Amanda Holden reveals youngest daughter Hollie isn’t interested in fame and wants ‘no connection’ with her

As a lifestyle expert, I often talk about the evolving dynamics between mothers and daughters, and Amanda Holden recently shared a really relatable experience. She confessed her teenage daughter actively avoids being seen with her! Apparently, her daughter wants absolutely no connection to her because of Amanda’s fame – it’s a tough situation, but it highlights how tricky it can be navigating those teenage years and maintaining a relationship when you’re a public figure.

The 54-year-old TV personality said her daughters, Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 14, aren’t at all interested in her work in television, even though they’ve grown up knowing she’s a famous face on British TV.

Amanda explained that she’s always taught her daughters to be humble and resilient, especially if they decide to pursue careers in the public spotlight.

Talking about life with her husband, Chris Hughes, she explained that you need to be resilient, and they both understand she’s good at brushing things off. She hopes they’ve learned from her example to not take things too seriously.

Lexi, the oldest daughter, has already signed with the prestigious Storm modelling agency. However, Amanda revealed that Hollie isn’t interested in the spotlight and actually avoids being seen with her mother at school pick-up.

The Heart FM presenter recently shared that when he went to pick up his daughter, Hollie, from her new school, she actively avoided him. He said she saw him get out of the car and immediately walked to the other side of the street.

Her husband, Chris, a music producer, quickly defended her, telling their daughter she should be proud.

Amanda chuckled about her teenager’s reaction, explaining, ‘She just kept saying, ‘Mom, please get back in the car!’ They’re both really grounded and practical people.’

Amanda said she was proud her children remained grounded despite her celebrity, and described their home life as happily ‘normal and chaotic’ – a welcome contrast to her public life.

Amanda recently shared with the Daily Mail that sending her oldest daughter, Lexi, 19, off to college last year was hard, but she’s finding it even more challenging to navigate life at home with her younger daughter, Hollie, who is 14.

Amanda believes Lexi will likely return home after finishing university, and will probably accumulate some debt in the process.

She also spoke up for Lexi, who is a model with Storm agency, dismissing accusations of her benefiting from nepotism. She pointed out that Lexi balances her studies with working two jobs.

Oh, it just breaks my heart hearing Amanda talk about her kids. She mentioned, so sadly, that one’s already at university – can you imagine?! – and her poor 14-year-old… well, she basically said they’re not even *talking* to each other right now. It’s just… devastating. I feel so bad for her, honestly. It’s like, a mom’s worst nightmare, right?

This news follows Amanda taking on a new role: hosting the BBC show, Celebrity Inner Circle, in addition to her existing commitments.

The new show, Celebrity Inner Circle, combines elements of The Traitors and The Weakest Link, challenging both contestants’ knowledge and their ability to form strong relationships.

Amanda admitted she is nervous about presenting solo but is determined to make it a success.   

I’m definitely nervous – it’s been a long journey, and I’ve been involved in every step of the way.

I was asked to test the show before it was officially filmed. I did this in a church hall while a group of executives evaluated whether it had potential.

The BBC was full of people checking every detail to make sure everything ran smoothly. I was actively involved, running around, asking questions and chatting with everyone, and that hands-on experience made the whole thing feel more personal and less like just hosting a quiz show.

This feels genuine and important to me, and I really hope it succeeds. It matters deeply to both myself and everyone involved.
