They were chosen for their grit to appear on Celebrity Traitors in front of millions of viewers.
BBC executives were reportedly surprised by how poorly some of the celebrity contestants performed while competing at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands for the winning title.
People participating in the program seemed to struggle more than typical contestants, and relied heavily on the mental health professionals available to support them, according to sources who spoke with The Mail on Sunday.
Sources close to the show were surprised by how much the celebrity contestants struggled with their mental health during filming. Compared to regular participants, the celebrities found the experience particularly challenging. While therapists were available – as they are for the standard version of the show – they were kept very busy supporting the celebrities.
Singer Paloma Faith, 44, was the first to leave last week after Alan Carr, 49, ‘murdered’ her.

Honestly, I was *shocked* when Myleene Klass talked about this on ‘Uncloaked’! She said she couldn’t believe Alan Carr had betrayed her in the game – and she thought they were friends! It’s just… devastating to hear, especially knowing how much she clearly valued that connection. I mean, to be backstabbed by someone you trust? Ugh, my heart breaks for her! It really shows you can’t trust anyone in that game, but still… Alan and Myleene? I never would have predicted that!
Ms. Faith, 44, said she didn’t appreciate the action and felt it was unfair. She believes she wouldn’t have behaved that way towards him, and was surprised by his behavior towards her.
After leaving the show, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, Faith shared that she frequently met with the show’s therapy team during filming over the summer. She explained these sessions weren’t filmed, and through therapy, she gained new insights into unresolved issues from her childhood that she believed she’d already dealt with.
Speaking about Carr’s betrayal, she explained that trust is essential, and it’s deeply disturbing to realize someone you thought you knew might not be reliable.
‘Everyone is playing a game and it is hard to rationalise.
I didn’t realize how much the experience would affect me mentally. I expected to be able to treat it like a game, but being cut off from the outside world for an extended period, with no communication allowed, was surprisingly isolating.
