The huge sign Good Charlotte is set to announce an Australia tour for their new album – after the pop punk band reunited following a seven-year hiatus

Pop punk band Good Charlotte may be heading to Australia for a tour, based on recent hints they’ve dropped to fans.

The popular American rock band generated buzz in Sydney this week by posting messages in prominent public locations.

I was really struck by a photo I saw on Whatslively the other day, shared with the Daily Mail. It showed a sign hanging over a busy main street, right above all the traffic, and it really caught my eye.

A message displayed for drivers read, ‘Sydney, this song is for anyone who remembers being chosen last during gym class.’

As a huge fan, I’m so excited to hear from Whatslively that the band is *finally* going to announce their tour this month! Apparently, we can expect the concerts to happen in the fall of 2026 – it feels like a long wait, but I’m already counting down the days!

Good Charlotte’s last Australian tour was in September 2012. They played shows at the Fat As Butter Festival, and in the cities of Sydney and Melbourne.

The tour is happening right after Good Charlotte’s new album, Motel du Cap, came out in August.

The band hadn’t released any music since 2018. They took a five-year break before getting back together in 2023 for a unique performance.

Good Charlotte—made up of Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Paul Thomas, Billy Martin, and Dean Butterworth—performed at the wedding of Sofia Richie, who is married to Joel’s brother.

Sofia, who is married to Elliot Grainge, is the sister of Joel’s wife, Nicole Richie. Elliot is the head of a record label and a close friend of Joel’s.

Good Charlotte reunited for a special performance, and the band members said the show reignited their passion for making music together.

Benji recently told news.com.au that the experience brought back memories of their early performances – playing in a friend’s basement and then in their backyard, with a supportive crowd of friends cheering them on.

Before starting work on ‘Motel du Cap,’ the band took a break – their second one. They had previously paused in late 2011 after releasing their greatest hits collection and the ‘Cardiology’ album in 2010.

Identical twins Joel and Benji, both 46, stepped away from their music to spend time with family and pursue other interests. When they returned in 2016, Joel explained they had needed time to rediscover themselves as individuals, separate from their band identity.

At this year’s Grammy Awards, Benji explained that while they’re deeply passionate about making music and see it as a creative release, it doesn’t define everything about them.

You know, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately about finding balance, and it really came down to needing space to rediscover who *we* are, beyond what we do. It’s so easy to get wrapped up in your career or passions – for me, it was music – and forget to separate your self-worth from your accomplishments. We needed to step back and remember we’re valuable people, regardless of our work.

As a longtime observer of pop culture, I’ve always admired bands that stick together, and Good Charlotte is a perfect example! They actually started way back in 1995 in Waldorf, Maryland, and what’s really cool is that the same group of guys has been making music together since 2005 – that’s serious dedication and a real testament to their bond!

They released their self-titled debut album in 2000.
