A federal lawsuit brought by Kevin Hunter, Wendy Williams’ former husband, to gain control of her guardianship has been thrown out by a judge.
The judge rejected a request from Hunter, 53, who described himself as a friend of the 61-year-old talk show host he was married to for over 20 years. They share a 25-year-old son together.
According to TMZ, citing court documents, the judge has allowed Hunter to submit a revised complaint. However, Hunter is now prohibited from filing any future lawsuits that involve Williams.
Williams previously stated to TMZ that she wasn’t involved in the lawsuit her ex-husband filed in New York last June.
The TV personality, originally from Asbury Park, New Jersey, called into TMZ on Thursday and expressed her relief that the case had been dismissed, simply stating, ‘Why not?’
The Daily Mail has contacted both Williams’ representative and her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, for additional information regarding this story.

According to TMZ, the judge said Hunter can file a revised lawsuit, but he’s not allowed to include Williams as a defendant.
Williams is receiving care at the Coterie, a New York assisted-living facility in Hudson Yards, after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
She entered the facility over two years after being diagnosed with dementia, following the decision of Morrissey, who is her legal guardian.
Williams was wed to Kevin Hunter from 1999–2020, and they are parents to son Kevin Hunter Jr.
Prior to that, Williams was married to Bert Girigorie from 1994–1995.
Williams recently shared her frustrations with New York Magazine about living in the Coterie’s memory unit.
Williams explained to the publication why she believes living at the Coterie creates a problematic environment.
Williams questioned, ‘Did you notice those people? The older ones? I don’t even want to look at them.’ He added, ‘I’ve repeatedly requested a room on a different floor.’

During a segment on TMZ on Thursday, she stated that the building she was discussing was for residents aged 60 and over, then playfully added, ‘I’m 61, and I still look fabulous!’
Williams shared that she’s been regularly attending church in Brooklyn to stay positive.
‘It gives me faith,’ she said, ‘and keeps me very well in touch with God and myself.’
The celebrity, who was spotted at New York Fashion Week last month, jokingly confirmed that she does enjoy going out, saying, ‘I’ve been getting out there, so of course I go out.’
