Reddit adds built-in games to its mobile app and desktop with its Developer platform

Story Highlights

  • Reddit adds new playable games to both desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Games can be played full-screen through Reddit’s Games Launchpad.
  • Variety of genres like Puzzle, Word, Arcade, and Action are available now to play.

Reddit is now letting users play games directly on the platform! Known for its discussions and community features, Reddit is expanding its offerings so you can enjoy games without ever leaving the site. Read on to learn more about how it works.

Reddit games on offer include Honk, Jump Cat, and Pixelary among others

On computers, you can find Reddit games in the sidebar. If you’re using a phone or tablet, tap the menu icon (three lines) to find a “Games on Reddit” section where you can play games and discover more. You can also find the community dedicated to Reddit games at r/RedditGames.

Reddit’s Games Launchpad lets you play games full-screen on computers and phones. You can find all sorts of games there, like puzzles, word games, arcade classics, simulations, action games, and card and board games – and many more!

Right now, some of the most popular choices are Syllo, One Line, Pixelary, and Froggy Flight. If I had to pick one, I’d recommend Honk. It’s a browser-based game similar to Flappy Bird, and I find it incredibly addictive!

The platform also created a specific Reddit community, r/GamesOnReddit, where users can find and talk about these new games, all made possible by Reddit’s tools for developers. Other social media apps, like Discord, have also started offering similar gaming spaces.

Reddit’s new gaming features might not be as attention-grabbing as those on platforms like Netflix or Discord, but they’re still pretty cool. Rather than highlighting big-name games, Reddit is offering quick and simple games you can play right within the site while you’re already browsing.
