Victoria Beckham revealed that David ‘guilted’ her into joining the 2008 Spice Girls reunion.
In her Netflix documentary, she shared that she was working to establish herself in the fashion world and move beyond her pop star image when she unexpectedly found herself being drawn back into music.
You know, when I was collaborating with Roland Mouret, the other Spice Girls came to me with a really exciting idea. They were eager to get back on the road and wanted to start planning a tour…
‘David was like, “it’s really good for the kids to see you do this”, he mum-guilted me!’
For his part, David reasoned: ‘Our kids weren’t around to see their mum be a Spice Girl!
Oh my gosh, can you believe it? Back then, little Harper wasn’t even here yet! Brooklyn was already this amazing nine-year-old, and Romeo was just the sweetest six, with tiny Cruz being a playful three. It feels like a lifetime ago, but I remember every detail!
Victoria happily signed on for the 2008 Spice Girls reunion tour, saying it felt good to revisit her ‘Posh Spice’ persona after so many years and to perform with the group again.
Yet when the Spice Girls reformed again in 2019, this time Victoria refused to join them.

Victoria said she enjoyed celebrating the Spice Girls, but the 2008 tour made her realize she no longer felt comfortable performing on stage. While she’d had fun, it wasn’t what she was passionate about anymore.
Ever since then, Mel B has repeatedly said she wants to tour again and has publicly criticized Victoria for choosing not to join.
Victoria admitted she was upset by something Melanie B (Scary Spice) said. She explained that Melanie B recently told her, ‘Don’t forget where you’ve come from,’ and that comment bothered her.
She emphasized that she’s always remembered her roots and is grateful for the opportunity she has today, acknowledging that her success began with her time as Posh Spice.
‘She might have been grumpy but she was actually great.’
The importance of family has remained a constant for Victoria, however.
At the end of the documentary, Victoria became emotional, realizing she wanted to continue achieving success and make her family proud.
David, while talking with her in their garden, expressed how it bothered him that she always felt the need to prove herself. He wondered why she couldn’t simply acknowledge her accomplishments and feel satisfied.

After years of hard work, I finally have a chance I don’t want to waste,” Victoria said, her voice cracking with emotion.
“Who are you trying to impress?” David asked. “Maybe you,” she replied, tears welling up. “You know I really do feel awful about always having to ask for your help.”
Seeing your faces – yours and the kids’ – after the show… it wasn’t just another quick hello. It really hit me then, seeing how genuinely proud you were of me. It was a perfect moment, honestly. I’ve replayed it in my head so many times!
I’m really proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited to keep working towards my goals. I’m not afraid to admit I want to achieve a lot more.
The docuseries includes glimpses of her family, such as a quick shot of Brooklyn at her Paris Fashion Week show last year.
The family has been arguing for months and hasn’t appeared in public together since last Boxing Day.
Victoria’s husband, David, and their children – Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14 – received more attention in the broadcast, with the cameras showing them prominently seated in the front row before the show began.

Victoria Beckham’s new Netflix series is created by the same team behind the popular documentaries about David Beckham and Michelle Obama, building on the success of David’s recent docuseries.
The documentary offers an inside look at her fashion brand and follows her preparations for her Paris Fashion Week show last September.
David Beckham, the famous England football star who married Victoria in 1999, had a very successful Netflix documentary last year, and Victoria appeared in it.
David shared that it took some convincing to get Victoria to participate in the new documentary. However, he praised her as incredibly dedicated and intelligent, and believes everyone should see her work ethic.
Victoria Beckham is streaming on Netflix now.
