True to form for the creators of *The Traitors*, the anticipated murder played out in a brilliantly suspenseful way throughout the entire episode.
Okay, so the show kicked off confirming what we all suspected – Alan Carr *was* the traitor! He ‘killed’ Paloma Faith by, well, touching her face with that poisonous pollen. Honestly, I felt a little bad for Alan, what was he supposed to do, just randomly grab someone else’s cheek? It was a tough spot for him!
Everyone – supporters, doubters, and those watching from home – eagerly anticipated confirmation of the elimination over breakfast. Ruth Codd even joked about the lack of hospitality considering the circumstances. However, our expectations were quickly dashed when all the contestants appeared, ready to eat their breakfast cereal.

It turned out the victim didn’t die immediately, but would later during the day’s challenge. The remaining players had to figure out which three contestants the traitors had targeted to be in the coffins, using clues from a funeral choir. Then, they needed to choose which of those three was the actual murder victim.
All while sheltering from some suitably funereal Scottish rain.
When the riddle was read – “You filled the airwaves with laughter and jest, completed your task, now time to rest” – the people in mourning were confused. They couldn’t decide if it was Lucy Beaumont or Nick Mohammed. Both comedians had hosted radio shows, and both had been on the TV show *Taskmaster*, which seemed to fit the clue’s description.
The next clue came as a model of the Apollo 11 rocket, and Nick immediately insisted he was the one it referred to. Everyone else strongly agreed – except Lucy – and they were all mistaken. Lucy had actually performed in a comedy show called *Space Mam*, making her the intended target of the clue.
Everyone seemed so certain it was Nick, but it wasn’t obvious why. It turned out they were thinking of a comedy show, not a scene from *Ted Lasso*. The show, called *Apollo 21*, was a fake documentary from 2009 that pretended to be the real experiences of astronauts on the moon.
And so we said goodbye to Paloma. At least she got a croissant.
After that, everyone predictably started drawing big conclusions from limited information, despite Stephen Fry wisely beginning the discussion by quoting Sherlock Holmes: “It’s a fundamental mistake to speculate without evidence, and we have none.”
Then, everyone criticized Kate Garraway and Niko for making a major mistake: immediately pointing out they were considered suspects. If you believe people are suspicious of you, don’t draw attention to it!
