Vicky Pattison has clarified that she did not quit Strictly Come Dancing, despite missing a recent appearance on the show’s companion program, *Strictly: It Takes Two*, alongside her partner Kai Widdrington.
The 37-year-old TV star, who is currently on the popular ballroom dancing competition with her partner Kai, 30, was scheduled to be on the show’s companion program on Monday.
But just hours before the performance, Vicky announced she was sick, and her dance partner Kai wasn’t feeling well either.
She shared on Instagram: ‘I’m so sorry to anyone who was hoping to see Kai and me on ‘It Takes Two’ tonight. I’m feeling unwell and we’re working hard to get better and back to training as soon as possible.’
Along with her update, the former Geordie Shore star shared a photo of the things helping her get better, like throat lozenges, cough syrup, ginger shots, oranges, and juice, as she fought off her illness.
Fans started to worry that Vicky had left the show, so she went back to Instagram on Thursday to explain what was really happening.

She shared a happy selfie with Kai and explained that they had to miss their usual appearance on ‘It Takes Two’ because Kai was sick earlier in the week and she wasn’t feeling her best either. That was the only reason!
She quickly clarified that reports of her leaving Strictly were false. She’s enjoying the show and appreciates the opportunity. She also shared that her partner, Kai, is feeling better, and they’ve resumed rehearsals and will be appearing on tonight’s episode of It Takes Two. She just wanted to set the record straight.
Vicky and Kai are busy practicing for their Charleston dance on Saturday night’s live show. They’ll be performing to the song “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody” from The Great Gatsby.
This follows Vicky’s recent disclosure that she resumed therapy before competing on Strictly Come Dancing, as she shared her thoughts on the debate about contestants who have prior dance training.
Last Friday, the former reality star revealed on social media that she went back to therapy to manage her anxiety.
Vicky shared with her fans that she was worried about her nerves and anxiety even before starting the show. She almost turned down the opportunity because of her fears, and considered letting them prevent her from taking part in something she knew could be great.
I refuse to let my self-doubt control my life. I don’t want it to talk me out of pursuing my goals and believing in my potential.
I gathered my courage and focused on getting myself prepared before starting this new experience.

Vicky explained that she began prioritizing her own well-being by returning to therapy, making time for loved ones – including her husband – and practicing self-care.
Oh my gosh, you won’t BELIEVE this! My absolute favorite star almost didn’t do Strictly! She said she was so anxious she nearly said no, but she’s determined not to let fear control her life. I’m SO proud of her for pushing through, especially with Kai as her partner – they’re going to be amazing, I just know it!
She encouraged him, saying that even though he wasn’t doing ‘Strictly,’ everyone has chances to pursue incredible opportunities. She wanted this to be his motivation to take a leap of faith – whether it’s changing careers, going on a blind date, or traveling alone. She urged him to just go for it!
Anxiety is your brain’s way of warning you about potential dangers, making you believe the worst will happen. But remember, those fears don’t have to come true.
Meanwhile, Vicky also addressed some of this year’s celebrity lineup having prior dance experience.
The winner of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here isn’t worried about competing against fellow cast members who have experience performing on stage for BBC’s show.
This year’s cast features Amber Davies, known for her roles in the musicals 9 to 5 and Back To The Future, and Lewis Cope, formerly of Emmerdale and a stage star who played the lead in Billy Elliot.
It’s also been revealed that he was previously a contestant on the Sky show *Got To Dance*. As part of a dance group called Ruff Diamond, he made it to the final of the 2013 series, placing fourth.

Harry also already knows his way around the dance floor.
Although the Team GB sprinter hasn’t trained as a dancer, he appeared on the 2024 Strictly Christmas special with Nancy Xu. This experience might help him pick up the choreography during rehearsals.
EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal shared that she used to enjoy Latin and ballroom dancing as a pastime.
Instead of viewing it as unbalanced, Vicky believes the variety of talent is what makes the show special.
Oh my gosh, she *gets* it! She totally understands what makes Strictly so amazing! She was saying, and I’m paraphrasing because I literally hang on her every word, that every year it’s such a mix! You get people who’ve *never* danced a step in their life, complete beginners, and then others who maybe took ballet lessons when they were little, or have a bit more experience… it’s just perfect! It’s the variety that makes it so captivating, honestly.
Honestly, I didn’t think it was a huge deal at all. She made a really good point – being good at one thing doesn’t automatically make you good at something else, and that definitely applies here. Just because someone has experience in one area, doesn’t mean they’ll automatically shine in a completely different one, like ballroom dancing!
Vicky believes having talented contestants appear early in the competition actually helps viewers enjoy the show more, rather than feeling like it creates unfair competition.
She commented that it’s great for viewers to see such talented dancers so early in the show. She added that there are still many outstanding performances to come, and that each contestant will have a compelling story unfold.
