Charlie Hunnam Is Back For Netflix’s Monster Season 4 As The Lizzie Borden Story Confirms Main Cast And Kicks Off Filming

Netflix has had great success with its *Monster* series, which dramatizes true crime stories, and *The Ed Gein Story* has been a standout since its release. The crimes of Ed Gein were particularly horrific, and Charlie Hunnam delivered a chilling performance as the disturbed killer. While reviews were mixed, audiences seem to be enjoying the show, and the creators were happy with Hunnam’s work enough to cast him in Season 4, focusing on the case of Lizzie Borden.

Filming for Season 4 has begun, and Netflix has announced some exciting new cast members alongside Charlie Hunnam. We’ll share those details shortly, but first, here’s a sneak peek at Hunnam and his co-star portraying Lizzie Borden and her father, Andrew.

Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden, the woman famously accused and later found not guilty in the Fall River, Massachusetts murder case. Beatty’s previous television work includes a role in season two of *Feud* as Kerry O’Shea and Kate Harrington, and she appeared in the film *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*. Playing Borden will be a challenge for Beatty, especially considering Christina Ricci’s recent portrayal of the historical figure. For Charlie Hunnam, this new role should be less demanding than his previous part as Ed Gein, which required a significant emotional toll.

Here’s a list of the actors and actresses confirmed for the project so far, and we’ll share more names as production moves forward.

Monster Season 4 Cast List

  • Ella Beatty – Lizzie Borden
  • Charlie Hunnam – Andrew Borden
  • Rebecca Hall – Abby Borden
  • Billie Lourd – Emma Borden
  • Vicky Krieps – Bridget Sullivan
  • Jessica Barden – Nance O’Neill

Rebecca Hall consistently delivers fantastic performances across all genres, but horror fans especially love her work in films like *The Gift* (2015), *The Night House* (2020), and *Resurrection* (2022). She’s set to play Lizzie Borden’s stepmother soon after appearing in Adam Wingard’s upcoming action-horror film, *Onslaught*. Billie Lourd, known for her roles in *American Horror Story* and *Scream Queens*, will play Lizzie’s sister Emma and is sure to be excellent in the role.

Vicky Krieps, who previously appeared in *The Ed Gein Story*, will join the cast of *Monster* as Bridget Sullivan, the Borden family’s maid. She played Ilse Koch, a figure who inspired the killer in the previous installment. Joining her is Jessica Barden (known for *The End of the Fing World* and *American Horror Stories*), who will play actress Nance O’Neill and appear later in the story.

Max Winkler will direct the first episode of the fourth season. He’s known for his work with Ryan Murphy, having directed episodes of shows like *American Horror Story*, *The Watcher*, *Feud*, *Grotesquerie*, and *Monster: The Ed Gein Story*. He’s also already involved with the upcoming series *Love Story*. Winkler comes from a famous acting family – he’s the son of Henry Winkler, known for *Happy Days* and *Barry*, and is married to Jessica Barden, a co-star in one of Murphy’s projects.

Netflix will probably keep making more seasons of *Monster* as long as Ryan Murphy wants to continue working on the show. The recent *Ed Gein* installment has been a huge hit, staying at the top of the Top 10 list since its release and attracting millions of viewers. It’s likely to remain popular throughout the rest of the Halloween season.

All three seasons of *Monster* are currently available to stream on Netflix. We’ll share updates about Season 4 as soon as they become available.
