NetEase Games is cracking down on datamining related to its new sci-fi RPG shooter, Destiny: Rising, which launched in August. After several leaks appeared online, the game developers have reportedly sent DMCA takedown notices to online communities.
NetEase Games targets forums and Discord communities on asset extraction
NetEase Games is cracking down on leaks from Destiny: Rising. A recent report from The Game Post details how the company is sending DMCA takedown notices to online forums and Discord servers that have shared decrypted game files. As a result, the Destiny Model Rips Discord server has announced it will no longer permit posts about game assets or tools used to extract them.
Okay, so just to clear things up, the takedown notice wasn’t aimed at anyone playing the game, but at ResHax.com – it’s a forum where people talk about figuring out how the game’s files work. Apparently, NetEase’s lawyers contacted them and asked them to remove anything about decrypting the game, like guides or already ripped content – things like character models, textures, and sound files. They wanted to get that stuff off the forum, and that’s what the takedown was about.
It looks like recent leaks have pushed them to act now
NetEase stated they found posts on ResHax.com explaining how to break the encryption on their game files. They explained that they encrypt these files to stop people from illegally copying or using them.

They explained that this leaked content reveals sensitive information and significantly damages their business interests. I agree with NetEase’s stance on this, just as I did with Kuro Games regarding the leaks for Wuthering Waves. While leaks can sometimes create excitement, they’re still unacceptable.
The developers need to prevent future information leaks. Recent leaks correctly revealed upcoming characters like Helhest, and also uncovered three more: Jaren Ward, Maru, and Rossi-11.
