Sabrina Carpenter has been accused of ‘making light’ of PTSD in her recent song lyrics.
The incredibly popular singer, known for her memorable songs and witty lyrics, is now facing criticism for her latest release, “Nobody’s Son.”
PTSD UK expressed disappointment with the singer’s recent comments, sending a message to both her and her record label.
In her new song from the album Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina sings about a harmful relationship, with the line: ‘That boy is corrupt, I experience trauma from it every day.’
The charity is now sending a letter to the singer and her representatives after her words became a popular trend on social media, including TikTok.
The open letter, published on Tuesday, argues that the lyric ‘get PTSD on the daily’ is a misleading representation of post-traumatic stress disorder.

They claim the line may imply that PTSD is something like a bad mood that you can ‘get’ casually.
They feel the song simplifies a serious, often lifelong issue into something easily remembered, but in doing so, diminishes its importance.
Critics have also expressed concern about how PTSD is portrayed in popular culture, arguing that overuse in unimportant situations diminishes its seriousness when discussing genuine cases.
According to a representative from PTSD UK, some people might see the lyric as a way of expressing emotional distress, not as a direct connection to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I often hear people say that using casual language around serious topics like trauma or PTSD just mirrors how we talk about them in daily life. And honestly, I get that. Some also believe artists shouldn’t be limited in how they express themselves, and I respect that viewpoint too. It’s a tricky balance, but ultimately, everyone processes and communicates differently.
‘However, it’s important to recognise that words shape culture.
Using terms for serious mental health conditions lightly or incorrectly can worsen misunderstandings and prejudice, and it can downplay the real struggles of people living with PTSD or complex PTSD.
Creative expression is important, but artists also have a duty to avoid reinforcing damaging stereotypes or spreading false information about health and medical issues.

‘PTSD is not something to be trivialised or used as a synonym for ‘a bad experience’.
‘It’s a serious mental health condition that can have devastating and lifelong consequences.
As a long-time fan, it really bummed me out to hear that kind of thing in a song by this artist. They have so many young listeners who look up to them, and it just feels irresponsible to include that reference.
The Daily Mail have contacted Sabrina’s representatives for comment.
PTSD UK spoke out after Sabrina revealed she’s faced confusion, hostility, and mockery from men, and often feels she needs to educate them about respectful behavior. This came after she publicly criticized her former partner, Barry Keoghan.
As someone who keeps a close eye on pop culture and relationships, I found Dua Lipa’s recent comments in Vogue Italia really interesting. She basically shared that, at this point in her life, she views men as fascinating – almost like an amusing spectacle! She sees their behavior as incredibly entertaining, and it’s a surprisingly honest take on navigating dating and relationships in the public eye. It’s refreshing to hear someone speak so openly about seeing the lighter side of things, even when things get complicated.
Sabrina’s fascination with men inspired her latest album, ‘Man’s Best Friend,’ and she admits she still has mixed feelings about them.
The singer and actor Barry were in an on-again, off-again relationship from December 2023 until late 2024.
Whenever a friend tells me she’s having a boy, I’m thrilled! I’m confident he’ll be raised well and have a good upbringing.

I might be wrong, having only lived for 26 years, but it seems like we’ve always had to guide and teach others. It’s a very old story, really.
I’ve always found men to be a fascinating group to observe – both in good ways and bad. Some have made me feel loved, inspired, and cherished, while others have left me confused, hurt, and belittled.
She continued by saying that finding humor in awkward or uncomfortable situations is an important part of life – at least, that’s how she sees it.
Honestly, I’ve always felt like wit and humor weren’t just things I *enjoyed* – they were my lifeline. It’s been with me as long as I can remember, a constant shield. It wasn’t about making others laugh, it was about *me* surviving, about subconsciously preparing for whatever came next. It always felt like I was building a fortress around myself, one clever remark at a time.
