AFL star Joel Jeffrey has welcomed his first child with his partner Lucy Jenssen.
On Wednesday, the Gold Coast player, age 23, posted a heartwarming collection of photos to social media showing their newborn son sleeping soundly in his crib, lovingly held by his parents.
They also revealed the little one’s adorable name.
Proud parents announced the arrival of their son, Jakiah Paul Jeffrey, on Tuesday, sharing that they are completely in love with him.
Lexie Brant, the winner of Miss Universe Australia, excitedly congratulated the new mother, saying, ‘Congratulations! You’re going to be a wonderful mom!’
‘Welcome to the SUNS family, Jakiah,’ added the Gold Coast Suns page.
Jakiah is the first child for Joel and his partner, who have been dating for several years.
Joel made his debut in 2021 and has gone on to play 50 games across four years.
Born in Darwin, the player comes from a strong football family – his father, Russell Jeffrey, was a well-known player in the Northern Territory and played for Saint Kilda between 1987 and 1991.
This news follows the recent arrival of Dale Thomas and his wife Natasha’s first baby.
The baby girl arrived in late July, with the couple updating their fans on the good news.
‘Allegra Thomas. No words for this kind of love,’ they wrote in a joint Instagram post.
Alongside the tot’s birthdate – July 31 – the pair shared a series of images showing the newborn.
In a heartwarming photo, Allegra’s loving father, a footballer, watched her as she relaxed on a bed.
The former AFL star announced on Instagram in March that he and Natasha are expecting a baby, sharing a series of photos of Natasha’s growing belly.
The couple chose to share photos without a lot of words, using the sweet captions ‘Mum + dad’ and ‘Baby Thomas, due August. We love you so, so much.’
The couple got married at Mount William Station, a beautiful rural location in Victoria, last February.
Around 160 people attended the event, including well-known faces like Eddie McGuire, MasterChef’s Khanh, Olivia Molly Rogers, Rhonda Burchmore, and Heath Shaw, who served as a groomsman.
