Jonathan Majors Reveals His Plan To Return As Kang In the MCU

Jonathan Majors has shared his desire to reprise his role as Kang the Conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), despite recent difficulties. He first appeared as a version of Kang, called He Who Remains, in the Disney+ series *Loki*, where he was established as the victor of a multiversal conflict and protector of the timeline. Although his character was killed off in *Loki*, Majors returned as Kang the Conqueror in the movie *Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania*, but was defeated. Despite this, Kang was positioned as the major villain for the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but legal issues involving the actor threatened to end his involvement.

In December 2023, Jonathan Majors was convicted of assault following a two-week trial. This came after reports in November 2023 suggested Marvel was shifting away from plans centered around the Kang character. At the San Diego Comic-Con in 2024, Marvel confirmed the next *Avengers* film will be titled *Avengers: Doomsday*, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom as the primary villain, replacing Kang. While the jury found Majors not guilty on three of the five charges against him, he was later sentenced to probation and required to complete a year-long domestic violence program. Despite this, a recent interview suggests there’s still a possibility he could return to future projects.

In a September 2025 interview with The Sun U.S., Jonathan Majors didn’t directly address whether he’d return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kang the Conqueror, but hinted at a possible path back by mentioning the possibilities offered by the Multiverse.

Majors also said he was “very glad” that some fans want him back.

How the Multiverse Can Bring Back Kang the Conqueror 

Jonathan Majors’ hint about the Multiverse is notable because it offers a clear path for bringing Kang the Conqueror back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ultimately, though, whether that happens depends on Marvel Studios’ creative choices for the character.

The post-credits scene of *Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania* revealed a multitude of Kang variants, hinting at a potential return for Jonathan Majors in *Avengers: Doomsday*. Because this storyline remains unresolved, it creates a clear path for bringing his version of Kang back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, supporting his previous statements about the multiverse.

Many Marvel fans believe Marvel could use Kang the Conqueror to introduce Doctor Doom and demonstrate his power. Since Doom has only briefly appeared on screen – in a post-credits scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps – showing a powerful version of Victor von Doom battling the many versions of Kang would be an ideal way to establish him as a major threat before he faces off against other heroes. This approach would also allow Marvel to conclude Kang’s storyline and simultaneously position Doom as a dominant force in the Multiverse.
