It’s hard to recall a recent WWE premium live event without a championship match! While Triple H and WWE claim both the men’s and women’s Crown Jewel Championships are at stake this weekend in Perth, Australia, most fans aren’t particularly invested in those titles. Winning eight Crown Jewel Championships might sound impressive someday, but because the concept is so new, these matches currently feel more like special exhibitions than important title defenses.
If you haven’t heard, WWE created the Crown Jewel Championship last year. Every year, both the WWE Champion and the World Heavyweight Champion, as well as their female counterparts, compete for it. Importantly, the champions don’t lose their original titles – the Crown Jewel Championship is more about establishing who’s on top and earning bragging rights, giving fans a clear idea of the current ranking.
Big wins and losses in PLE matches always have a ripple effect. The winner gets a boost in confidence and can cut a celebratory promo about defeating a top opponent, while the loser faces the opposite and has to address their defeat. This is important because it shows us how WWE views its champions. In Seth Rollins’ case, the outcome of his match will likely give us clues about the future of his group, The Vision.
Before I dive into the details, let me quickly share how my predictions have been holding up, especially with some key events. I’ve predicted the outcomes of every Premium Live Event since WrestleMania 38. While my record isn’t strong enough to earn a championship title, it’s probably good enough to land me a spot offering commentary before the main show.
| Event | Wins | Losses |
| ’25 Rumble | 3 | 1 |
| WrestleMania 41 | 9 | 3 |
| ’25 SummerSlam | 7 | 5 |
| WrestlePalooza | 3 | 2 |
| Overall | 202 | 76 |
Roman Reigns Vs Bronson Reed In An Australian Street Fight
I was surprised by the outcome of the match at Clash in Paris. I really thought Bronson Reed would win against Roman Reigns, even though Reigns rarely loses. I believed it made sense because Reigns was about to start filming the *Street Fighter* movie, and Reed had been gaining momentum after taking and wearing Reigns’ shoes. I figured Reed could convincingly defeat Reigns, providing a reason for Reigns’ absence from WWE, and a big win would establish Reed as a potential top star, rather than just an associate of Seth Rollins.
Okay, so the big brawl did happen, but with a twist. Roman Reigns actually *won* the match first, and then Reed absolutely demolished him – seriously, he had to be carried out on a stretcher and was off TV for over a month to shoot a film. While it protected both wrestlers, I couldn’t help but feel it was a letdown for Reed. He’s clearly reinvented his character, ditching the shoes and everything, but this finish didn’t quite give him the boost he needed. It felt like a missed chance to really establish him as a major threat.
Since this match is an Australian Street Fight, it’s possible Bron Breakker will get involved to help Bronson Reed defeat Roman Reigns, which is what I’d like to see happen – I think Reed deserves a big win. However, if the plan is for Reed to win, it doesn’t make sense they didn’t have him win previously, when Reigns was already taking time off. The timing seemed better then, but I don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, so there might be a reason I’m not aware of.
The plan seems to be for Roman to wrap up his rivalry with Reed, then move on to feuds with Breakker and Rollins, potentially leading to a match at WrestleMania next year. I expect Roman to win and then team up with another “Bron” wrestler afterward, but we’ll have to see how it plays out.
Predicted Winner: Roman Reigns
John Cena Vs AJ Styles
I predicted that John Cena might go through his entire retirement tour without losing a match, but I was way off. He lost badly to Brock Lesnar at the last event, in a way that reminded people of his loss at SummerSlam 2014. It was a shock to me, and a lot of fans online were upset about how the match was booked. Now that Cena’s facing AJ Styles, everyone’s wondering if he might lose again.
I doubt that will happen. While anything is possible, as we’ve seen with the surprises during Cena’s farewell appearances, it seems unlikely they’d have him lose two matches in a row with so few events left. I like Styles a lot, but he hasn’t had many major victories recently. Brock Lesnar always gets a big push when he returns, but Styles hasn’t been booked in a way that suggests he’s about to get a similar boost.
I expect Cena to win this match and get back on the winning path, which will likely kick off the storyline leading to his retirement match.
Predicted Winner: John Cena
Rhea Ripley And Iyo Sky Vs Asuka And Kairi Sane
Rhea Ripley isn’t the only Australian wrestling star competing in Perth this weekend; Bronson Reed is also from Australia. However, it’s difficult to see Rhea losing this match. She’s arguably the most prominent female wrestler ever, and if she isn’t challenging for a championship, she needs to convincingly win matches to maintain her position as a top performer.
It’s possible we’ll see a storyline where Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley’s friendship falls apart, potentially leading to a match between them at WrestleMania, but that’s still a long way off. More immediately, Iyo will likely continue her rivalry with the Kabuki Warriors, and a match against Asuka at a major event like SummerSlam seems probable.
Even so, Iyo and Rhea are very likely to win this match. It probably won’t be the main event, and a loss for Rhea would likely leave the audience upset for the rest of the night. Also, there’s really no good reason for the Kabuki Warriors to win – Asuka has already gained an advantage over both Rhea and Iyo in their rivalry. It just makes sense for the Kabuki Warriors to get some payback here.
Predicted Winner: Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky
Stephanie Vaquer Vs Tiffany Stratton For The Women’s Crown Jewel Championship
This match promises to be fantastic, pitting two of the most skilled and athletic women on the roster against each other. Vaquer, fresh off winning a world championship, will be highly motivated to show what she can do. She hasn’t competed often on major WWE events, so this is a perfect opportunity for her to make a big impression.
As a wrestling fan, I’m really excited about this match. Tiffy’s been champion since January, but honestly, her run has been a bit… interesting. She’s mostly been facing much larger opponents like Nia Jax and Jade Cargill, which meant she had to work a specific style. But Stephanie is smaller and quicker, and I think this will finally let Tiffy show off some of the moves and have the kind of fast-paced exchanges she hasn’t really gotten to do in a while. It’s a chance for her to really shine!
I honestly don’t know who’s going to win. There isn’t much history between these two competitors. One possibility is that the company might want to present Vaquer as a future champion with a victory. However, that would mean ending Tiffy’s successful run, as they clearly have high hopes for her. Alternatively, they could use this match to showcase Tiffy’s potential with a new partner and validate their investment in her. Only time will tell.
Predicted Winner: Tiffy Time
Cody Rhodes Vs Seth Freakin’ Rollins For The Men’s Crown Jewel Championship
Things haven’t been ideal with The Vision storyline. While Seth Rollins, Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Becky Lynch have all performed well and had some strong moments, the storyline as a whole isn’t gaining much traction. The weekly segments focused on this storyline are okay, but they aren’t compelling enough to make viewers tune in to Raw specifically.
This match is an attempt to build a more compelling storyline in WWE. Seth Rollins has been struggling with his confidence after losing to Cody Rhodes three times since Rhodes’ return, including a memorable match at Hell in a Cell. This week on Raw, Paul Heyman bluntly told Rollins that his authority will be undermined if he doesn’t win, creating a potentially captivating narrative regardless of who emerges victorious.
It seems likely Rollins will win this match. The Vision is a new group, and if Breakker and Reed start to doubt Rollins after a loss, they might not stay loyal. He hasn’t proven himself enough for them to support him through difficulties, but it would be strange to disband the group so soon. That would suggest the whole idea was a failure, and the creative team would be giving up quickly. It’s too soon for that, so Rollins really needs to win to keep the group together.
Predicted Winner: Seth Rollins
