Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer is rushed to hospital with mystery illness: ‘They’re not sure what’s wrong with me’

Dani Harmer has revealed she was taken to hospital over the weekend due to a mystery illness.

Dani Harmer, known for playing Tracy Beaker, has had to cancel a job due to ongoing health issues that are preventing her from working.

I was so worried when I saw her TikTok! She shared that she hasn’t been feeling well and actually had to go to the hospital over the weekend. Thankfully, she’s home now, and that’s a huge relief!

I’m feeling really unwell at the moment. Doctors are still trying to figure out what’s causing it, so I’m undergoing more tests.

‘I’m absolutely gutted that I’ve had to cancel work and a job that I was really excited to do.

‘Those that know me know how much I love my job. So, absolutely devastated.

I appreciate everyone who’s reached out to check on me. I’m hoping to recover and get back to normal soon, and I’m sending you all my best.

In a follow-up video, Dani explained she was still feeling unwell and didn’t yet know what was causing her illness.

The actress is well-known for her role as Tracey Beaker, the character from Jacqueline Wilson’s books, in the TV series that aired from 2002 to 2005.

Dani also played the character again in the follow-up series, including Tracy Beaker Returns in 2010, The Dumping Ground in 2013, and My Mum Tracy Beaker and The Beaker Girls in 2021.

Earlier this year, Dani revealed she has been diagnosed with perimenopause.

She said: ‘I have been diagnosed with perimenopause. And what I need your help with is my hair.

My hair is really falling out. It’s not just about seeing bald spots, but the overall texture is getting thinner and it’s quite noticeable.

Dani shared that she’s been feeling down about her hair thinning and asked her followers for advice about getting extensions. However, she’s concerned they might actually damage her hair further.

She admitted it wasn’t her best idea, and it could even damage her hair further, but she was really feeling down and needed to try something.

Dani shared that her husband, Simon, was the first to realize something was different, noticing a significant shift in her personality that ultimately led to a perimenopause diagnosis.

I was really worried to hear the actress talk about how things had been getting worse. She explained that her depression and anxiety were building up, and she started having these other really tough symptoms – like a constant ‘brain fog’, night sweats, and trouble sleeping. She said it all just became ‘too much to ignore,’ and I completely understand why she felt she needed to share what she was going through.

Dani revealed that she went to the GP and saw a female doctor and got a ‘diagnosis pretty swiftly’.

They also did blood tests to rule anything else out.

She sighed and explained that she felt like someone else had taken over her body, which was a terrifying experience. It led to a worsening and overwhelming depression.

‘So I’m really glad that I went and I got help. My doctor was more than happy to put me on HRT.’

Dani shared that after being on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for about a year and a half, she finally feels like herself again and has lost the weight she put on during the pandemic lockdowns.

However the only lasting side effect she is facing is hair loss and the ‘odd hot flush and stuff’.
