House Of Guinness star joins the James Bond race as ‘bookies name him as contender for 007 role’

Anthony Boyle, known for his role in the TV series *House of Guinness*, is the latest actor said to be considered for the role of James Bond.

The 31-year-old actor, originally from Belfast, plays Arthur, the oldest son in the Guinness family, on the Netflix show. He’s also known for his role in the popular series Derry Girls.

Now, Anthony is rumoured to be in the running for what would be his biggest role yet – James Bond.

According to The Mirror, Ladbrokes is currently offering 10/1 odds on Anthony to be the next James Bond, making him the fifth most likely candidate to replace Daniel Craig.

Oh my gosh, I’ve been following Anthony since the very beginning! It’s amazing to think it all started back in 2013 when he began training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. I was so thrilled when he finally graduated in 2016 with a BA in acting – I just *knew* he was destined for greatness!

He then found great success on London’s West End stage, playing Scorpius Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Since then, he’s acted in a variety of projects, including popular shows like Game of Thrones and the political thriller Say Nothing, where he played IRA activist Brendan Hughes.

James Norton has said he doesn’t think he’s right for the role of James Bond anymore, believing he’s aged out of being able to convincingly play the character.

Ever since Daniel Craig finished his run as James Bond with the film *No Time To Die* in 2021, many famous actors have been mentioned as possible replacements, including the 40-year-old actor in question.

I was so relieved to hear James address those rumors! He basically said he doesn’t think they’re true, and actually thinks casting will lean towards finding younger actors going forward. It’s good to get that straight from him.

Bookmakers are currently favoring Henry Cavill, age 42, as the likely choice, but 40-year-old Theo James is also a strong contender.

Callum Turner, 35, is another actor reportedly in the running for the role, along with Harris Dickinson, Tom Holland (both 29), and Jack Lowden, 35.

Daniel Craig first played James Bond in 2006 with *Casino Royale*, when he was 38 years old. He was 53 when he last portrayed the iconic spy.

Addressing the speculation, James told The Mirror: ‘I think I am too old. I turned 40 this summer.’

There’s no real discussion happening. It feels like rumors are spreading, possibly originating from someone in Wolverhampton, and it’s all just baseless gossip. I’m even getting unwanted attention from the press, but it’s all speculation.

When asked about the opportunity, James said it was a tough choice because it would significantly alter his life. He explained he enjoys his current lifestyle and values the simple things, like being able to easily go to the local pub.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 35, was once a leading contender for the role, but he dismissed speculation and told Esquire magazine he wouldn’t comment on it.

Like James, Idris Elba, 53, also said he was ‘too old’ after he was rumoured to be the next 007.

He acknowledged he’s getting older and, while flattered to have been considered for something back in 2009, he believes that chance has now passed.

Idris Elba playfully told Chris Moyles on Radio X that he’s become better known for *not* being James Bond than some of the actors who actually played the role, thanks to all the speculation about him potentially taking it on.

Chris jokingly asked if Idris Elba had ever been considered for the role of James Bond. He mentioned there were a lot of rumors a few years back and wondered if Idris had ever addressed them, or if he’d ever been seriously in the running or wanted the part.

Idris responded, saying he’d heard the rumor countless times – practically half a million, it felt like. He confirmed it was definitely one of the biggest rumors circulating.

‘I’m arguably more famous for not playing Bond than some of the actors who did!

I’ll admit, I didn’t always take the idea seriously. Everyone loves James Bond – he’s a great character – and honestly, I was flattered to even be considered for the role years ago.

Chris kept arguing, saying, ‘You never know, it might not be over,’ but the actor quickly dismissed the idea, replying, ‘No, it definitely is. The rumor is completely finished.’

‘And I mean, I’m ancient now. I don’t know what kind of Bond I’d be.’
