A new legal drama series, first revealed in February 2024, centers around the Kishans – a family of lawyers who provide legal services to wealthy clients in Manchester.
So, production on this six-part series was put on hold back in September 2024 for some ‘editorial reasons,’ which was a bummer. But good news! They officially started working on it again in April, and now we’re finally getting our first glimpse at what it’s going to look like!

These photos feature Ritu Arya, known for her roles in *Humans* and *The Umbrella Academy*, in her latest part. She’s pictured wearing a cozy red coat alongside a coworker from her new firm.
Kishan Law is a Manchester-based family law firm that specializes in serving high-net-worth clients. The firm is known for its prestigious clientele and strong reputation as the top choice for Manchester’s elite, who value their expertise, honesty, and privacy.

The future of Kishan Law is uncertain as a long-held family secret surfaces, causing chaos in both their work and personal lives.
Ursula Rani Sarma created *The Split Up*, with Abi Morgan, the creator of *The Split*, as an executive producer. Kaamil Shah is one of the writers and has hinted at what viewers can anticipate in the new spin-off.
Shah explained that he’s working on a new project – a television show about British Asian divorce lawyers in Manchester. He’s thrilled to be collaborating with showrunner Ursula Rani Sarma on this unique series, which offers a fresh and different portrayal of British Asian characters on screen.

I find it incredibly exciting to be part of a show that honestly portrays the complex and sometimes chaotic lives and relationships of British Asians – the drama, the affairs, everything! It feels really authentic and compelling.
The show, led by Nicola Walker and Stephen Mangan, originally aired for three seasons from 2018 to 2022. A special two-part episode, filmed in Barcelona, was released last year.
The Split Up does not yet have a release date.
