Clash of Clans bug rewards players with massive Starry Ore haul

Story Highlights

  • Players have received Starry Ores in plenty after the recent update in Clash of Clans.
  • The glitch came from the new revenge feature, granting massive unintentional rewards.

A surprising bug affected Clash of Clans, leaving players stunned. Following the October 2025 update, users reported receiving an excessive amount of Starry Ores—far more than intended—each time they tried out a new feature.

Supercell quickly shut down the game servers to address the problem, but not before many players benefited from a lucky ore windfall. Others were understandably upset by what happened. The issue stemmed from a bug in the recently added revenge feature, which mistakenly awarded players a large quantity of ore each time they used it.

While many took advantage of the Ore bug, many Clash of Clans players are not happy

Man, the Clash of Clans community is going crazy right now after that glitch! Everyone’s arguing about what Supercell should do. You’ve got people making jokes, but also a lot of frustration. Some want them to rewind everything and fix it, others are actually saying they *like* the glitch and want it to stay! It’s a total mess.

The game is back online after maintenance! We’ve restored the previously removed skins and fixed a bug that was giving players too many ores from Revenge attacks.

Players have been reporting some unusual activity, like one person receiving a large amount of in-game currency—around $400 worth of ‘Starry Ore.’ Another player said a teammate quickly leveled up their Warden Fireball from level 9 to 23. Many also feel it wouldn’t be right to punish players for things they didn’t do, and that’s a reasonable point.

This is a difficult situation for everyone involved. People who received the rewards might feel like their accomplishments are diminished, and those who didn’t get them are likely feeling disappointed and left out.

What started as a routine update day quickly became incredibly chaotic for the game. It’s clear the recent bug gave some players an unfair advantage. Currently, Supercell hasn’t announced how they’ll address the issue.

A reasonable approach could be to make this available to everyone, accept the losses, and move forward. I don’t think they’ll reverse the changes, as the resources are already distributed and many players have used their ores. However, it’s possible if they’re willing to show negative ore balances, similar to how they handle gems.
