Brazilian influencer Adair Mendes Dutra Junior has tragically died at age 31.
Junior Dutra, a fashion influencer on Instagram, died on October 3rd. He had been hospitalized a month earlier after experiencing complications from a surgery to create a ‘fox eyes’ look.
According to People magazine, Junior’s friend Gean Souza told Quem magazine that complications from his illness led to an infection, and ultimately, his death.
I was really saddened to hear about what happened to Souza’s friend. From what Souza told me in the interview – he spoke Portuguese, so I had it translated – his friend suddenly got sick on October 3rd. He started having trouble breathing, and they rushed him to the nearest public hospital, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it. It’s just heartbreaking.
According to Souza, the patient had been experiencing complications and discomfort following the procedure. These issues got worse last Friday.
In a September interview with Feed TV, Dutra said he developed an infection following a procedure performed by Dr. Fernando Garbi in March.
I was really shocked to read that he said he got an infection after the procedure and had to go to the hospital. But his lawyer quickly released a statement saying it’s all completely untrue – he’s denying the claims entirely. It’s a confusing situation, and I’m hoping we get the full story soon.

People magazine reported that Junior appeared to have bruises and swelling on his face during an interview. He mentioned he was under the care of a dermatologist at the time.
The Daily Mail reached out to Garbi and his attorney, Marcelo Cheli, for a response, but they haven’t replied yet.
Fox eye surgery, a procedure that lifts the outer edges of the eyes for a more angled, cat-like appearance, has become increasingly popular with celebrities and social media influencers worldwide.
According to documents obtained by LeoDias, Junior filed a complaint with the 15th Police District of São Paulo against the doctor before he died.
I was so shocked to hear about this, but apparently, our beloved stylist was actually in a legal battle with the doctor before they passed. From what I understand, they were suing over some really serious claims – things like the doctor practicing medicine without a license, causing them real physical harm, and just outright lying. It’s just awful to think about everything they were going through.
Garbi’s lawyer denied the allegations made against the doctor in a statement, calling them ‘false’.
Per People, the statement says that Garbi has no ‘connection’ with Dutra’s death.
In a statement posted to Instagram, Garbi denied the accusations against the doctor, claiming they came from people seeking quick fame.
As a staunch supporter of Dr. Fernando, I was relieved to hear that those who’ve attacked him with false and damaging statements will be held fully accountable. The statement made it clear that every possible legal avenue, both civil and criminal, will be pursued to ensure they face the consequences for the harm they’ve caused him. It’s a strong message that such behavior won’t be tolerated, and I’m confident justice will be served.
According to People magazine, Dr. Garbi – who describes himself online as a maxillofacial, facial cosmetic, and facial harmonization surgeon – told Portal Leo Dias he has no connection to reports of infections linked to the ‘fox eyes’ procedure.
‘We still don’t have the medical records with the cause of death,’ Junior’s friend Souza told Quem.

He was a kind and wonderful person with so much left to live for. He hoped to spend more time with his family and travel the world. Now, we simply want justice,” Souza stated.
Dutra has over 123,000 Instagram followers and enjoys sharing photos of his luxurious and fashionable life.
According to his social media, he was based in São Paulo, Brazil and worked as a fashion stylist.
His final post showcased a striking red outfit, seemingly bringing his fashion ideas to life with a model wearing the look.
‘Because attitude can also be worn — and today it comes in red,’ he captioned the post.
