An NSFW Paddington Bear Appearance Has Turned Into A Lawsuit Between The Movie Producers And An Emmy-Winning British Show

The *Paddington* movies are a popular choice for families, and with fans hoping for more films, the character has become a frequent target for parody. However, a recent YouTube series took a risqué approach to the beloved bear, prompting a lawsuit from the film’s owners and StudioCanal, the production company.

Spitting Image isn’t simply a YouTube show; it’s a celebrated British satire series that first appeared in 1984. The latest version launched on YouTube in July 2025, moving away from traditional television. One early sketch, titled “The Rest Is Bulls*!t,” playfully spoofs Prince Harry co-hosting a podcast with a rather unstable and anxious-looking puppet of Paddington Bear, who recently starred in the film *Paddington in Peru*.

Even after making multiple copies and letting it sit for a while, it wouldn’t be as damaged as this one.

Okay, so the *Spitting Image* puppet version of Paddington? Let’s just say they didn’t exactly sanitize the character for all audiences. He’s super upfront about being from Peru – and he *really* emphasizes it – and casually drops hints about a… let’s say, complicated past involving something he shouldn’t have. It was a wildly exaggerated and frankly shocking take on Paddington, and while *I* thought it was hilarious, it definitely wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

Why Studio Canal Is Suing Avalon Over Paddington Parody

Details of the lawsuit are still largely confidential, but Deadline reports that StudioCanal is using the law firm Edwin Coe. They’ve filed a complaint with the High Court raising issues about copyright and design rights. It’s currently unclear why StudioCanal is only pursuing this case now, several months after the sketch that launched the new streaming version of *Spitting Image* first appeared.

It’s possible people simply weren’t aware of the video until it became popular. Currently, it’s been viewed over 500,000 times. The show’s five most recent YouTube videos have a combined total of around 2 million views, and that doesn’t even include views from other social media platforms.

If you’re not dealing with anything super confidential right now, you should definitely check out this sketch! It’s hilarious – they’ve got puppets of Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and, well, let’s just say there’s a pretty wild bit involving a huge amount of Peruvian cocaine. Seriously, it’s a must-see if you need a laugh!

Unlike the over-the-top Triumph the Comic Insult Dog, this version of Paddington is more laid-back and delivers jokes with a modern, edgy style. He might say things like ‘my health IS mental’ or tell slightly suggestive jokes like the one that follows.

And that’s why I said no to Harry Potter. Paddington Bear gets out his wand for no one.

It’s not brilliant satire, but it’s similar to the kind of parody you’d see on a show like *Saturday Night Live*, maybe without as much makeup. However, StudioCanal is pursuing legal action, so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
