Influencer Rolling Ray passed away from natural causes, it’s been revealed a month after his unexpected death just two days before he would have turned 29.
Raymond Harper, known online as Ray, gained fame on social media, calling himself ‘the most famous boy in a wheelchair.’ He had over 448,000 followers on Instagram.
His death was announced by his mom in a Facebook post in September.
I’m heartbroken to share that my son, Ray Ray (@Iamrollingray), has passed away, and is now with God,” she wrote.
‘I thank everyone who has called or texted. This is going to be a long road.’
Ray died from natural causes, his family confirmed to The Washington Post.

He first became famous online through funny videos, and then went on to appear in TV shows like MTV’s Catfish Trolls and the dating show Bobby I Love You, Purrr.
Ray was born on September 5, 1996, and lived in Washington D.C.
He was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) type 3.
Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is a rare inherited condition that leads to muscle weakness, according to the NHS. While it tends to worsen over time, treatments and medications are available to help control the effects.
Ray shared updates about his health on social media, and in May, he announced he’d been taken to intensive care because he was having trouble breathing.
In 2022, the internet star battled Covid and pneumonia.
‘My immune system isn’t strong enough to fight it by myself,’ he said at the time.
In 2021, Ray suffered serious burns when his wig accidentally caught fire while he was trying to light a cigarette.
In the video, he described how he lit a cigarette, carefully striking the match just once with his fingernail. He also pointed out that his hair was positioned in front of him at the time.
‘The mother f****in finger just like lit on fire when I tried to light the cigarette.’
I burned my hands trying to pull the wig off. The flames quickly spread – first to my shirt, then down to my feet and legs, and finally, everywhere in the room. It was a fire consuming everything.

Tributes have been pouring in following the news of Ray’s death.
One friend shared on Instagram, ‘Rest in peace, my sweet friend.’ They added that they were heartbroken and struggling to imagine life without them.
Someone else shared a prayer: ‘Dear God, please let Rolling Ray find peace. He was an incredibly gifted and wonderful person. May he rest in heaven.’
‘I CANT BELIEVE THIS NEWS YOU WERE A LIGHT ON THIS EARTH,’ added a third.
Your humor always brought us joy, and you’ll forever be in our hearts as if you were still here. We’ll miss you, dear friend. Rest peacefully.
