Jennifer Aniston reveals why she respects journalists ‘more’ than ever

Jennifer Aniston says playing a news anchor on The Morning Show has given her a greater appreciation for the work journalists do.

The actress, 56, who’s been in the public eye since 2019, told People magazine that her experiences have made her deeply appreciate the work journalists do.

She emphasized that it’s always been challenging, but even more so recently. She specifically mentioned morning news anchors, saying the job is really demanding.

Aniston also noted that portraying Levy, alongside Reese Witherspoon, has been deeply cathartic.

You know, people often ask me how dealing with fame feels compared to the characters I play. And honestly? There’s a lot of overlap! I definitely see pieces of my own experience reflected in the roles I take on. It’s a bit like looking in a mirror, really.

Aniston shared that Alex is much more open and talkative than she is. She added that it’s good to get that kind of energy out of your system.

Even after four seasons, Aniston emphasized that she just ‘love[s] playing her.’ 

Last month, Aniston told Glamour that making the show is often emotionally-draining.

Seriously, after I finished watching the first season, I was completely wrecked! I honestly thought my heart would stop. It was *that* good. Then, somehow, life goes on, and you manage to… recover. But a part of me is still reeling, you know?

It reminds me of how people describe childbirth – you forget how difficult it was, and then suddenly you’re pregnant again. That’s how some of my friends explain it, and it feels similar to my experience.

Jennifer Aniston described the experience as incredibly painful, comparing it to a difficult and exhausting delivery, and added that the process often happens repeatedly.

It feels really special to end a season without feeling completely finished and exhausted.

She finished by saying that it’s important to take time to relax and distance yourself from difficult situations, and for her, doing a comedy project quickly helped her do just that.

Just before the fourth season became available to watch, Apple TV+ announced that *The Morning Show* would be back for a fifth season.

Charlotte Stoudt will continue as showrunner, and Mimi Leder as director and executive producer, for the fifth season of the show, according to sources at The Hollywood Reporter.

Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV+, lauded the series, noting it has been a ‘standout’ since its 2019 launch and was one of the first major shows on Apple TV+.

Cherniss expressed how fulfilling it’s been to watch the show, starring Jon Hamm, both entertain and connect with viewers around the globe.

He expressed gratitude for the incredible cast and creative team, especially Jennifer, Reese, Charlotte, and Mimi, noting that their work continues to make *The Morning Show* a captivating and thought-provoking series that audiences enjoy.

‘We’re excited for viewers to experience the next chapter of this Emmy-winning drama.’
