Huge pop star’s nepo baby daughter, 14, ‘set to follow in her mother’s footsteps’ in the music industry

The daughter of a famous singer is expected to launch her own music career, continuing the family tradition.

New reports indicate that Mariah Carey’s 14-year-old daughter, Monroe, may be preparing for a career as a singer.

The Sun reports that the singer, 56, has filed papers to protect her name Monroe Carey.

This includes for live musical performances and ‘other entertainment information’.

According to a source, Mariah is very experienced in her field and was surprised when Monroe expressed interest in pursuing a career as a musician.

She understands this is her daughter’s dream and is completely supportive, doing everything possible to assist her.

Monroe is determined to succeed as a singer through her own talent, not just by relying on her mother’s contacts. However, her mother’s advice has been incredibly helpful. Monroe has a fantastic voice, and if everything goes well, she’ll soon be sharing it with the world.

A representative for Mariah has been contacted by Daily Mail for comment. 

This follows Mariah Carey’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she hinted that her daughter might be pursuing a career in music.

She explained: ‘My daughter’s into music, and she likes music.

‘She used to sing with me on my Christmas tour, but I don’t know if she’s doing it this year.’

Jimmy, the show’s host, then asked the singer if she thought her daughter was prepared to become independent and pursue her own path.

Mariah answered: ‘I’m trying to get her to do her own thing. I think she wants to. So possibly.’

The singer then performed her new song, “Play This Song,” a duet with the incredibly talented Anderson Paak, who also happens to be rumored to be her romantic partner. He joined her on stage for the performance.

Mariah Carey also shares her son Moroccan, who is Monroe’s twin, with Nick Cannon.

He and Carey were married from 2008 until 2016.

Monroe seems to be taking after her mother and pursuing a singing career, having performed with her both on TikTok and in live shows on several occasions.

Last year, she joined her onstage at The Hollywood Bowl along with her brother.

In December 2023, Monroe joined her mother on stage for a performance at the famous Madison Square Garden during her ‘Merry Christmas One And All’ concert.

Mariah previously told People that she enjoys watching her kids onstage.

It brings me so much joy to watch my children pursue their passions and perform, and I even enjoy seeing them prepare backstage,” she said in 2023.

Mariah Carey fondly remembers performing with Marilyn Monroe, but she’s made it clear she doesn’t want to push her children into following in her footsteps professionally.

In a 2022 interview with W Magazine, she expressed her hope that her twins will feel empowered to pursue any path they choose.

Carey explained to Access Hollywood in 2023 that she doesn’t tell people what to do. She’s impressed when she sees others diligently rehearsing and pursuing their goals, letting them follow their own path.

In November 2021, Monroe and her brother made a brief appearance in Mariah Carey’s ‘Fall in Love at Christmas’ music video.

Mariah expressed her delight in watching the performers enter the space and shared that their enthusiasm came from within. ‘It’s wonderful to see them embrace this opportunity,’ she said.

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! I was watching Jimmy Kimmel Live! last year, and Mariah let it slip that Moroccan and Monroe actually *got paid* for coming on tour with her! Can you even imagine?
