Sydney Sweeney recently achieved a significant career accomplishment, coming just two months after receiving considerable criticism for her work with American Eagle.

This past Saturday, Euphoria star, 28, received the Achievement in Acting Award for her work in Christy at the Hamptons International Film Festival.

She was beaming while holding her crystal award, posing perfectly in front of the festival’s step-and-repeat backdrop. She shared a series of photos from the event and wrote, “Thank you @hamptonsfilm for the achievement in acting award for @christy.movie,” in the caption.

For the event, the two-time Emmy nominee looked stunning in a tailored white blazer dress with a short length and a delicate, see-through tulle skirt. She completed the look with heels from Jimmy Choo.

Later in the night, she changed into white sneakers to celebrate the win. 

This award marks the end of a challenging period for Sweeney, who sparked a lot of discussion online this summer with her ad campaign for American Eagle jeans.

The advertising campaign, centered around the phrase ‘good genes’ and starring a blonde, blue-eyed model, immediately drew comparisons to Nazi propaganda. Its launch in July also led to accusations of racism and eugenics. The campaign sparked significant controversy.

Although the actress hasn’t spoken out about the recent criticism, her recent public appearance indicates she wants to redirect attention to her career. She remains one of the most sought-after young actresses in Hollywood, and seems keen to emphasize her work.

Underneath her post, she received numerous kind messages from fans.

“Congratulations, Syd! You’ve worked so hard for this,” one person commented, and another playfully declared, “This is your Oscar, queen!”

Her mother, Lisa Mudd Sweeney, also weighed in: ‘Congrats! Beyond proud of you!’

Christy, the new film by Sweeney, debuted globally at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2025.

It hits theaters next month on November 7.

Before the premiere of Christy in Toronto, Sweeney stated she wouldn’t be commenting on the advertisement publicly.
