The Green Goblin is set to reappear in a new Marvel series coming to Disney+ in October 2025. Many Marvel fans first got to know the Green Goblin (also known as Norman Osborn) through Willem Dafoe’s performance in the 2002 film Spider-Man. Dafoe has reprised his role as Norman in Spider-Man: No Way Home and has also appeared in other projects.
Disney Jr. has just shared the official song for its new special, Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! They also gave fans a sneak peek with some clips from the show. The footage confirmed that Green Goblin will be a major villain in the animated project.
Disney+ released a statement about Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up!, sharing details about what Green Goblin will be doing in the project. It seems Green Goblin is joining forces with Ultron in a plan to control every machine in the city.
The video released with the “Team-Up!” song gave us a first look at Green Goblin’s design for the new special. This version of the character is different from Willem Dafoe’s; Spidey and Iron Man‘s Green Goblin won’t be wearing a mask. Instead, he’ll have green skin and pointed ears, making him look more like traditional goblins from stories and legends.
He’ll be wearing his famous purple outfit, which originated in the comic books, and he’ll be flying through the air on a purple glider.
Even though the special hasn’t come out yet, the preview clips suggest that Spider-Man and Iron Man will defeat the villains. One scene showed Ultron and Green Goblin lying on the ground, seemingly trapped by Spider-Man’s webbing. It looks like Spidey and Iron Man will team up to win.
The Team Up! music video from Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! can be seen below:
Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! is a special episode for Disney Jr. that brings together the worlds of Spidey and his Amazing Friends and Iron Man and his Awesome Friends. You can first watch the special on Disney Jr. on October 16, 2025, and it will also be available to stream on Disney+.
Recent Green Goblin Appearances and the Character’s Future
Spidey and Iron Man: Avengers Team-Up! isn’t the only Marvel story to include Green Goblin or some form of Norman Osborn. The character has been appearing more and more lately, in live-action movies and TV shows, animated series, and even video games.
As we discussed, Green Goblin recently stood out in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Willem Dafoe reprised his role as Norman Osborn for a final performance. Many viewers were thrilled to hear his famous laugh again, first in the film’s trailer, and then to see the character appear on screen after almost 20 years.
Norman Osborn had a significant part in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 2 game, released in 2023. Although he wasn’t the main villain, players witnessed his declining mental health during the story, especially as his son, Harry, grew increasingly ill.
The scene after the credits ended showed Norman heading to the Raft, a high-security prison, to see Otto Octavius, the main villain from the first game. This hinted that Norman will transform into the Green Goblin in the next movie, meaning fans might see the Green Goblin return very soon. More details are expected to be released later.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man really impressed a lot of Marvel enthusiasts. Even though it wasn’t officially part of the main MCU storyline, the animated show gave audiences a fresh take on Spider-Man, including a reimagined version of Norman Osborn.
Throughout the series, Norman is aware of Peter Parker’s secret identity as Spider-Man. He even takes on a mentor role for Peter during the first season. But, after creatures similar to Venom showed up in the season’s final episode, a bit of the symbiote was left behind in that world, and Norman eventually found it.
As a big fan, I was going back through recent animated films and realized some people might have missed a really cool Easter egg! Norman Osborn actually showed up in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. It was a super quick cameo during the scene at Spider Society headquarters – you know, the one packed with tons of different Spider-People. He appeared as the Atari version of Green Goblin! It wasn’t a detailed character model, just a bunch of green pixels, and he didn’t look human at all, but it *was* a version of Green Goblin pulled straight from a video game. It was a neat little nod for those of us who remember that classic game!
As a huge movie fan, I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen the last of Green Goblin and Norman Osborn. I’m expecting to see him pop up again in Season 2 of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and definitely in Insomniac’s Spider-Man 3. He’ll absolutely be back!
However, it is possible that a version of Norman will eventually be introduced in the MCU as well.
