If you’re planning a romantic getaway with your partner or a lively trip with friends, Airbnbs are a popular choice for finding accommodation. They consistently rank high when people search for places to stay.

Many of the world’s most luxurious homes are now available for rent, offering the perfect escape for those looking to spend big on a vacation-or share the cost with friends.

But did you know some of the most popular digs can be found right here in Australia?

Whether it’s stunning apartments right on the beach that have won awards, or luxurious getaways in the countryside, some of the most incredible vacation rentals are in Australia-you might even know the owners!

A single property is located close to where many television shows are filmed, and other homes are famous for attracting famous people and wealthy Australian socialites.

Here are the top ten most popular Airbnbs in Australia.

Sandy Bay

Oh my gosh, you guys, it *starts* with the most adorable courtyard apartment! Seriously, it’s in Sandy Bay, Tasmania, and get this – it’s inside a heritage-listed former bakery! I’m already obsessed. It’s just so chic and cozy, I can already picture myself there!

The well-loved vacation spot, located only 2km from Salamanca in Hobart, earned owners Alix and John the Host of the Year award at the 2025 Australian Host Awards.

This space includes a king-size bed, a bright courtyard with a large outdoor bath, and a comfortable living area featuring a gas fireplace.

Visitors will also appreciate the comfortable features, including heated bathroom floors, a small kitchen, and thoughtful details like locally sourced snacks. A week-long stay costs around $3,162.

As a long-time fan of the Host Awards, I was so thrilled to hear Sarah Huang, a member of the Host Advisory Board and one of this year’s judges, speak so highly of Alix and John. She really highlighted how personal their hosting style is, and I totally agree! It’s what makes them stand out.

‘The Braithwaite hosts exemplify hyper-personalised, emotionally resonant hosting,’ she said.

Oh my gosh, it’s just *amazing* how these hosts do things! They don’t just offer a place to stay, they completely immerse you in the story of the place. Like, they’ll find a handwritten note about someone who stayed there years ago and share it with you – it’s so personal! Or, if descendants of the people who *originally* baked the bread come to visit, they treat them like royalty! It’s not just hospitality, it’s like they’re turning history itself into something warm and welcoming. I’m obsessed! You can even find more details here about their unique approach.

I’ve quickly fallen in love with soaking in an outdoor bath under the stars! It’s become a real highlight, along with the wonderfully peaceful walking trails they have here. And honestly, the complete digital detox is exactly what I needed – it’s been so refreshing to disconnect. I’m already planning my next visit to enjoy these simple pleasures and recharge.

Banksia House, run by Kirsti and Toni on the Sunshine Coast, is a beautiful seaside getaway located on Caloundra’s headland. It’s designed to help guests feel relaxed and connected with the natural world.

As a huge fan of beautiful design, I have to say this home is incredible! It was designed by a landscape architect and includes all the things I’ve always dreamed of – a magnesium pool, a bocce court, and even two fireplaces! It’s a real luxury, and I’m guessing it would cost around $7,913 per week to rent. It’s definitely a splurge, but totally worth it for the right person!

Enjoy refreshing outdoor baths and showers surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. Separate areas for living and sleeping – called pavilions – are connected by open-air courtyards, creating a breezy and relaxing atmosphere. Learn more about the design.

As a huge fan of beautiful homes, I was so excited to discover that this place welcomes pets!
