Simon Cowell was back on the Britain’s Got Talent judging panel this Sunday, and viewers noticed a visible mark on his head. The explanation for his recent absence has now been shared, revealing the true reason he wasn’t present.
The 65-year-old music executive had to unexpectedly cancel his appearance at auditions for the upcoming season on Thursday.
This led to show executives calling off the auditions. They then asked Stacey Solomon to temporarily fill his spot on the judging panel for the Friday show.
Stacey – who Simon originally found on The X Factor in 2009 – was joined by Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and KSI.
Simon returned to the show’s auditions on Saturday at the Hippodrome theatre in Birmingham, sporting a noticeable red mark on his forehead that appeared to be painful.
In a brief video shared on his official Instagram, Simon reassured his followers: ‘It’s Simon, I’m alive and I’m in Birmingham,‘ and expressed his gratitude for all the well wishes he’d received.

Although the father of one didn’t say what occurred, someone close to Simon has explained that he hit his head.
Sources told The Sun: ‘Simon suffered a bad headache and migraine after unintentionally hitting his head. However, he’s now fully recovered and was enjoying being back in Birmingham and on the judging panel.’
Daily Mail has contacted a representative for Simon for comment.
Simon has mentioned he continues to deal with a painful health problem, which he first discussed last year.
He explained that he experiences severe migraines, which caused concern among fans when he had to cancel a few auditions while working on the film.
Simon uses red-tinted glasses to shield his eyes when filming in the studio. He needs the protection because of the bright lights and the long hours he spends shooting.
After a serious electric bike accident near his Malibu home in 2020 – a crash that nearly cost him his life – he completely changed his way of living. He revamped his lifestyle following the back injury he sustained in the collision.
Following the accident, Simon had major surgery. Doctors inserted a metal rod into his back to provide stability.

I was so worried when I first heard about Simon’s accident – his surgeon thought he might be paralysed! But I’m absolutely thrilled to say he’s made a full recovery. He actually told me he feels fitter than ever before, which is just incredible to hear after everything he’s been through.
I’m so proud of him! He’s completely transformed his life – he’s got regular sleep and exercise routines now, and the results are amazing. He’s lost over 20lbs, which is incredible! It just goes to show what can happen when you really commit to a healthier lifestyle. It’s truly inspiring.
The judge has previously mentioned that he stays in shape by exercising both at home and in his office.
Simon used to say he’d do 100 push-ups before taking a bath in the morning. Then, while at work, he’d often excuse himself after a meeting, close the door, and do even more.
