Back in 2006, Marvel Comics first published Marvel Zombies, a comic book series that has since grown to include six prequels, sequels, and crossovers-all showcasing scary zombie versions of beloved characters.

Each of these characters is motivated by a deep, personal desire. They’ve stopped being heroes and now act like predators, willing to eliminate anyone who stands in their way. When you combine this newfound drive with their already incredible abilities, they become some of the most dangerous villains ever created in the Marvel Universe. Carol Danvers, also known as Captain Marvel, is among the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe. As a zombie, she remains incredibly dangerous. Zombie Captain Marvel retained all of Danvers’ abilities, including the power to generate intense energy blasts. She’s still exceptionally fast and strong, which makes defeating her nearly impossible. Combine this with her drive to destroy, and you have a threat to the entire universe.

Zombie Captain Marvel is locked in an ongoing battle with Ikaris, and their clashes generate continuous lightning. However, when Kate, Kamala, and Riri happen to cross their path, Captain Marvel instantly attacks the group, defeating Kate Bishop incredibly quickly. Carol’s zombie form is frightening, featuring her familiar uniform but with the decaying appearance of Danvers beneath. Her immense power poses a threat to all of humankind. Luckily, the zombie remains preoccupied with Ikaris and doesn’t notice anything else happening in the world.

When the zombie outbreak finally reaches Earth-616 via a Zombie Deadpool in Marvel Zombies 3, an A.R.M.O.R. team, headed by Siege, attempts to fight it off. Sadly, Siege is bitten almost instantly and turns on his teammates, particularly Jennifer Kale. While pursuing her, Siege cruelly taunts her, expressing his disappointment at not seeing her in a bikini and taking pleasure in the fact that he will now consume her body as a zombie.

The core idea behind the zombies in Marvel Zombies is that their actions are driven by an overwhelming, uncontrollable hunger. However, Siege went beyond that. He began threatening to assault Jennifer very early on, even before the hunger really took hold, and this behavior wasn’t related to his zombified state at all, making it especially disturbing.

To a normal person, Wilson Fisk is a frightening man who always achieves his goals. This holds true even after his transformation into a zombie. Following the Zombie Avengers’ departure from Earth-616, Zombie Kingpin rose to power in New York. He cleverly maintained a food supply for his zombie followers using a cloning facility, and through sheer determination, he also managed to keep Vanessa, the woman he loves, alive and protected.

This zombie is particularly frightening within the Marvel Zombies universe because he became the King through force of will, not superpowers. He relied on his usual brutal violence and the unsettling calmness he always projects. A truly terrifying scene involving Zombie Kingpin occurs in the final panel of Marvel Zombies 3, where he’s shown desperately consuming Vanessa. It’s especially chilling considering Jocasta attempted to save her, only to be betrayed by the Kingpin.

Unlike other heroes who might be struggling with their actions, Pym fully understood the moral consequences of what he was doing – he simply didn’t care. He even stated that he would continue to eat human flesh even if he were cured, admitting he genuinely enjoyed the taste.

I’m a huge fan of Ava Starr, or Ghost as most people know her! Her power is just amazing – she can become completely intangible and invisible, which is how she got her name. It’s seriously unsettling, honestly. She can just sneak around unnoticed and then attack when you least expect it. And the fact that she’s portrayed as a bit of a zombie makes it even creepier! Watching her fight scenes is like watching a horror movie – they’re genuinely terrifying!

Zombie Ghost battles with the quickness and grace of someone who is still alive. She moves in and out of sight during fights, bending her body into impossible positions like a professional contortionist. What’s more, her flowing hair and bright red, glowing eyes create a truly terrifying image. Things get even scarier when she suddenly appears right in front of her opponents, prepared to bite.

Thor, the God of Thunder, is already a powerful being, so it’s no surprise that a zombie version of him would be terrifying. He’s incredibly strong, very fast, and practically indestructible, meaning he can easily take anyone he wants when he’s hungry and devour them. And that’s precisely what happens.

The concept of a Zombie Thor feels disrespectful. As a powerful god, seeing him transformed into a flesh-eating monster is unsettling for many fans. He’s considered no longer worthy of his title. Interestingly, in the comics, he doesn’t even wield Mjolnir anymore. Instead, he uses a makeshift weapon – a piece of concrete attached to a pipe – just to maintain the feeling of having a hammer, but it’s clearly not the same. What’s particularly disturbing is how he clings to remnants of his former life while simultaneously preying on the very people he once vowed to protect.

Fortunately, the heroes of the MCU have the Hulk from What If…? as an ally. Rather than turning into a zombie, this version of the Green Giant transformed into Infinity Hulk, a powerful cosmic being fueled by the Infinity Stones, which prevented Wanda from taking over the world. As a longtime fan, I have to say this version of the Hulk is just as unpredictable as ever, but now his constant hunger is making things *so* much worse. He’s never full, which leads him to attack even his own teammates just to find someone to… well, you can imagine. The really disturbing part? After he’s eaten, he vanishes, and then poor Bruce Banner is left to deal with the aftermath. He’s often forced to confront the horrifying reality of what the Hulk did, even seeing the bones of his victims on his stretched-out stomach. It’s a truly disturbing concept, and makes you really feel for Banner. It’s awful.

There weren’t many problems Reed Richards couldn’t figure out, but the zombie outbreak was one of them. He didn’t just fail to solve it-he actually spread it to the superhero world. After a zombified She-Hulk turned his children, Reed suffered a breakdown and infected Sue, Johnny, and Ben with the zombie virus. He then *let* them bite him, wanting to become a zombie himself. He believed there was no other option but to accept what he called a natural progression. Zombie Reed then unleashed this chaos on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier, where all the heroes were developing a plan to deal with emergencies. This, unsurprisingly, marked the beginning of the end for humankind.

Man, Zombie Reed is seriously creepy. It’s not just that he’s totally lost it, thinking this plague is *saving* people when it’s clearly destroying everything. What really gets me is that even with his body falling apart, he’s still a genius! He actually got an interdimensional bridge working and contacted his counterpart from Earth-1610, basically setting a trap for him – then somehow *escaped* his Ultimate version’s prison! He’s a zombie who’s really committed to the whole ‘zombie’ thing, and he’s smart enough to come up with all sorts of twisted plans. That’s why he’s the one who ended up dooming all of humanity, honestly. It’s terrifying.

, she didn’t lose her powers. She can still bend reality however she wants, shoot magic with her hands, and move things with her mind. She can even share some of her abilities with others. This makes her an ideal leader for the zombie horde. Honestly, the thought of a single zombie wielding Chaos Magic is scary enough, but dozens of them? That’s terrifying.

Besides having copies of herself scattered globally, Wanda Maximoff has the ability to conceal the fact that she’s a zombie. This skill proved incredibly useful when she was plotting her attack on New Asgard. She successfully disguised herself as an ordinary person, gaining Valkyrie’s confidence. This ultimately led to the Asgardians’ downfall. Even before becoming a zombie, Wanda Maximoff was considered one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe, but this shift in her ethics made her even more formidable.
