The announcement that Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman and country music star Keith Urban’s seemingly flawless 19-year marriage had unexpectedly ended was a complete shock, and quickly sparked sensational rumors. It felt like a sudden surprise and led to a lot of wild guessing about what happened.
Was the 57-year-old country singer Keith, who is relatively unknown and has a distinctive appearance, dating someone much younger than his 58-year-old ex-wife, Nicole? There’s been talk that he’s now in a relationship with Maggie Baugh, his 25-year-old guitarist, whom he often sings to while performing on stage.
Was Nicole really ‘blindsided’ by the sudden end of their apparently idyllic marriage?
It’s hard to say what the future holds, but one thing is certain: Nicole is a hugely successful actress. She’s been away from her husband for months, working on increasingly sensual movies and TV shows.
I’ve learned from difficult personal experience that problems often arise when the woman earns more than her husband – as was the case in my previous marriage – and is frequently absent due to work. His comfort is typically found with someone who is easily led and constantly praises him, while repeatedly pointing out how uncaring his more accomplished wife was.
Men’s self-esteem is often surprisingly delicate. The reality that Nicole has earned $250 million independently likely served as a continual reminder of Keith’s struggles, especially as he repeatedly entered and exited treatment for substance abuse and alcohol dependency.

She’s experiencing something many accomplished women – including myself – have gone through: being left by a man going through a mid-life crisis who feels threatened by our success.
Nicole is a loving parent and a very talented actress who prioritized her work over her husband, who didn’t seem to contribute much. I definitely side with her – but I always expected the relationship to eventually fail.
After breaking her ankle and having to leave Strictly Come Dancing, Dani Dyer is really upset and doesn’t want to leave the house because she’s worried about being overwhelmed by fans. ‘I need to get over this,’ she said sadly. Honestly, Dani, it’s just a dance show – it’s not like she’s been given a serious illness.
Top balancing act

Oh my god, when Amal Clooney arrived at the premiere of George’s new movie, Jay Kelly, I swear I almost fainted! She looked absolutely breathtaking – seriously, no one deserves to look that good! She just *gets* it, you know? Showing off those amazing legs, but still classy and covered up where it counts. It was the perfect balance! Honestly, so many other celebrity wives could learn a thing or two from her – and yes, I’m definitely side-eyeing Mrs. Bezos and… well, *everything*. She’s just a total style icon, and I’m obsessed! #AmalStyle for life!
It was amusing to watch Prince William, while knighting Oscar-winning actor Gary Oldman (known for his role in Slow Horses), voice what many of us were thinking: ‘I just want to give you a good wash.’
Oh my gosh, you guys, Gary Oldman actually *said* this! He plays the amazing, slightly messy leader in that Slow Horses series on Apple TV+, and he was just… wow. He said this felt like *nothing* else, a totally unique moment. He even said the Oscars – the *Oscars*! – seemed small compared to this! Can you believe it? And he was so cute, adding, ‘I think I’ve scrubbed up OK today.‘ Seriously, I’m losing it!
And indeed you did Gary, without a single burp or scratch of your crotch.
Westminster Wars
- Unwise of Keir Starmer to use in his speech the rallying cry from William Hague in 2001 – ‘we are all in it together’. Hague was my boss back then and I told him it was a terrible idea as it sounded like ‘we’re all in the s*** together’. He disagreed – and quit as Tory leader the day after the speech.
- Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood derided Reform supporters as ‘heirs to the skinheads and P***-bashers of old’. Starmer claimed Nigel Farage’s policies were racist and that he was ‘the enemy of the people’. Abit like Joe Biden calling Trump supporters ‘garbage’, and Hillary Clinton labelling them a ‘basket of deplorables’. Look where that got them.
Fashion editors were very enthusiastic about Jonathan Anderson’s debut collection as the new head of Dior. He shared that his goal was to design something that would appeal to a wide range of people.

Judging by this daft ‘showstopper’, that includes pirates and Darth Vader impersonators.
Our deepest condolences to Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton as he mourns the loss of his cherished bulldog, Roscoe, who was 12 years old. Growing up, my family had two bulldogs – my dad got them to keep us safe while he worked late. They were incredibly protective, sometimes to the point of not even letting Dad in!
Don’t vilify gentle souls
The tragic deaths of two Jewish people in Manchester serve as a painful reminder that anti-Semitism remains a serious problem in the UK. It is deeply disturbing that, following the Hamas attacks on October 7th, British Jews have become the targets of violence and hatred.
I live in a part of London with a large Jewish population, and many there are living in fear. For example, a mother recently told me she no longer feels safe walking her sons in the park. While the situation in Gaza is truly awful, these peaceful people do not deserve to be subjected to this kind of hatred. It’s unacceptable that they are feeling unsafe in their own community.
Snowflakes versus cupcake ‘trauma’
Lorraine Kelly playfully participated in National Check Your Boobs Day by posing in a Calendar Girls-inspired photo. She covered herself with two large buns decorated with cherries. Kelly joked that her television crew might have been shocked to see her in such a state, referring to it as being ‘in her birthday suit’.

Great job, Lor, for supporting such a worthwhile cause. However, be careful about Gen Z employees taking time off due to mental health concerns and potentially filing claims with the labor court alleging PTSD because of the boss’s behavior.
Princess Anne unexpectedly visited Ukraine this week, paying her respects at a memorial dedicated to the many children who have lost their lives since Russia invaded. She left a teddy bear at the memorial, a toy that had previously been cherished by her daughter, Zara.
This is a truly compassionate gesture, and with fewer and fewer working members of the royal family, it’s a good reminder that we should appreciate Anne, who continues to work tirelessly even at 75.
My cat, Ted, was really upset – and it took the Cats Protection charity to state the obvious: cats aren’t dogs and get very anxious when put in a harness and taken for walks. I attempted this with Ted once, and even before we left the house, he’d escaped the harness, hissing and biting me, and then, for good measure, peed on it.
Julia Roberts is currently promoting her film, After The Hunt, and she’s making a statement with her outfit! She was seen wearing a short dress covered in images of the movie’s director, Luca Guadagnino.
It takes sucking up to the boss to a whole new level.
Hope this Taylor has better luck
For reasons no one can quite understand, newly engaged Taylor Swift included a song on her album, The Life Of A Showgirl, dedicated to Elizabeth Taylor. She uses the Hollywood icon’s experience with public scrutiny as a way to reflect on her own life in the spotlight. It’s a compelling parallel.
Hopefully not, because Liz went through eight marriages but was never truly happy following the passing of the person she loved most, Richard Burton. It’s a sad story. She seemed to always be searching.
