Taylor Swift reacts to her album leaking just hours before Life of a Showgirl release

Just hours before her album, The Life of a Showgirl, was set to come out, Taylor Swift addressed the fact that it had been leaked. She responded to the situation shortly before the highly-anticipated release.

The celebrity, age 35, showed approval for a short video made by someone online who was upset about the album being released early. This happened before the album officially came out in the first few hours of October 3rd.

This happened after some fans reportedly received physical copies of the album ahead of release and began sharing leaked content online.

People saw that she reacted to a video from the host of the Guyset Podcast. In the video, he used strong language, calling the situation ‘fed’ and ‘messed up,’ because he felt other fans were ‘ruining it for everybody else.’

For the remainder of the video, which Taylor Swift acknowledged by liking the Instagram post, fan and podcaster Josh Felgoise discussed his disapproval of the leaks.

He said it seems Taylor Swift’s album was leaked, which is a serious problem, especially with the official release being less than 24 hours away.

Honestly, asking me to wait is just not going to happen! Absolutely not. There’s one thing you’ll *never* see me do, and that’s listen to a leaked album. It just feels wrong. I really want to experience the music as the artist intended – with the full production and everything. I want the complete artistic vision, you know? Like, I want to hear it the way it was meant to be heard. I’m a firm believer in supporting artists and respecting their creative process, and that means waiting for the official release. Music deserves that respect.

He stressed that he preferred to experience the work as it unfolded. ‘I don’t need to know anything early,’ he repeated. ‘I want to listen to it the way it’s supposed to happen. I don’t wanna know anything early.’

He continued, saying: ‘I enjoy all the speculation. I like hearing predictions about what will happen, how it will sound, and what people will say. That’s what makes it enjoyable.’

At the video’s conclusion, he requested that other Swifties avoid sharing leaked information and said, ‘don’t ruin the fun.

It’s all meant to be enjoyable. Please don’t spoil the fun, or the party. It’s puzzling why some people feel compelled to ruin things for everyone else. Why do they feel the need to ruin the party?

I was so thrilled to see Taylor quickly acknowledge the message! It happened just hours before The Life of a Showgirl was officially released. Sadly, all 12 tracks had already leaked online in pretty low-quality audio, spreading across platforms like Discord and others.

Almost immediately, Taylor Swift’s fans-known as Swifties-began carefully analyzing each line of the song, both the harsh criticisms and the romantic moments. This quickly led to intense debate about who the song was about-was it her fiancé, Travis Kelce, or perhaps other musicians like Charli XCX and Olivia Rodrigo?

This record is a significant moment for Taylor Swift – it’s the first released since she became engaged, following Travis Kelce’s proposal in a romantic garden setting in August 2025.

This marks a fresh and daring chapter for the 14-time Grammy winner, as she has, for the first time in more than ten years, chosen to work without her frequent partner, Jack Antonoff.

Rather, she collaborated as a producer on the album with renowned pop producers Max Martin and Shellback. This combination allowed her insightful lyrics to shine alongside their polished and commercially successful production style.

In addition to the music, Swift also revealed a striking new look for the album’s artwork, inspired by the glamorous and confident style of a Vegas showgirl.

She explained that the title came from her experiences balancing her incredibly successful Eras Tour – which lasted 21 months – with recording music late at night in Sweden.

Honestly, I remember times last year where I’d perform three shows back-to-back, then take just three days off before flying to Sweden and jumping right back into the tour. It was incredibly demanding physically, but I was so mentally stimulated! I told Travis on his New Heights Podcast over the summer that I was just bursting with excitement to be creating. It was a really special time.

In August, Kelce hinted to his audience that he was completely captivated by “this album” and had been dancing around his house to it.

He told Swifties that while the new music will have a lot more upbeat, pop-influenced rhythms, her songwriting still maintains a beautiful, lyrical quality with thoughtful allusions. ‘It’s simply a joy to listen to,’ he added.

He also gushed his favorite track was Opalite.

Apparently, Kelce was among just five individuals given access to the new album, which has been secretly stored in a protected, encrypted folder.

Beyond these individuals, the list also features Swift’s highly effective publicist, Tree Paine, one anonymous studio engineer, and the production duo Max Martin and Shellback, who both contributed to the music.

The Life of a Showgirl builds on the success of Swift’s 2024 album, The Tortured Poets Department, which broke numerous pre-release records.

Just last month, Taylor Swift revealed she’s hosting a special event where her concert film will be shown in movie theaters. This weekend, it will be playing at over 540 AMC locations.

Viewers will be the first to see the brand new Fate of Ophelia music video, along with a look at how it was made, lyric videos, and Taylor Swift’s own thoughts and stories. More details are available here.

The special theatrical release is slated to be 89 minutes long.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing that this event is projected to earn around $30-$50million, according to Deadline. And get this – presale tickets alone hit $15 million within just 24 hours of the announcement! That’s a huge indicator of its potential success. It’s definitely creating a buzz.

Ticket prices sit at $12 – which was decided by the award-winning performer herself.
