Michelle Keegan has received disappointing news: the popular historical drama, Ten Pound Poms, won’t be returning for a third season. Here’s a summary of what happened.
The BBC series, created by Danny Brocklehurst, tells the story of British people who moved to Australia in 1956. It shows how these characters adapt to their new lives in a country still recovering from the war.
After a successful first season in 2023, a six-episode continuation was shown earlier this year. However, Digital Spy has learned that Ten Pound Poms won’t be continuing with any further seasons on television.

According to a statement from a BBC representative: “We’ve really enjoyed sharing the story of the Ten Pound Poms with BBC audiences, and we’re thankful to Danny Brocklehurst, Eleven, and everyone involved in making the series.”
This announcement follows comments from Keegan, who starred as Kate Thorne in the historical drama. She previously suggested a third season might be possible during an interview with RadioTimes, along with her co-star Faye Marsay.
Keegan expressed their enthusiasm for the show, stating, “I love this show and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.” They continued, “I feel like if viewers enjoy this season and want more, hopefully the BBC will commission another one. I’d definitely be interested in returning.”
We need to gauge public interest and see if viewers connect with the show,” explained Marsay, who plays Annie Roberts. “If there’s demand for more episodes, I’d definitely be willing to participate.”
Although a return to Ten Pound Poms seems unlikely for Keegan, the actor is busy with several upcoming projects. He will be the lead in the new ITV crime drama, The Blame.
The new series begins with a devastating death in the peaceful town of Wakestead. As DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Douglas Booth) investigate, they uncover a complex story filled with deceit, hidden actions by powerful organizations, and difficult choices.
