A Woman of Substance will feature Vera’s lead actress portraying the character from the incredibly popular, multi-million copy novel with the same title.
Originally, Channel 4 brought the story to the screen in 1984, featuring Deborah Kerr as Emma in this tale of revenge and drama.

The story begins in 1911. Emma Harte, a hardworking and determined maid living in Yorkshire, England, embarks on an incredible transformation, ultimately becoming the world’s wealthiest woman and living in a lavish New York penthouse.
This story follows women who rose from humble beginnings to great success throughout the 20th century. Emma breaks the rules of her time, boldly questioning the expectations placed upon her, overcoming obstacles, and staying completely focused on her goal: reaching the top. House of Guinness and Kneecap star Jessica Reynolds will join Brenda Blethyn, playing a different take on the character Emma in A Woman of Substance. The series’ release date hasn’t been confirmed yet.
