A past interview with Nicole Kidman, where she described divorce as a ‘nightmare and hard,’ has resurfaced following her separation from Keith Urban.

Since news of their split became public this week, the couple has been all over the news, and many people have been guessing about the reasons behind it. 

The 58-year-old actress was seen publicly for the first time on Wednesday after filing for divorce, which will bring an end to her 19-year marriage.

Although she appeared cheerful during her outing with her sister Antonia, Nicole later revealed her honest emotions about her divorce from twenty years ago. She shared these feelings in a heartfelt interview with Oprah Winfrey, which took place around the time of her very public split from ex-husband Tom Cruise.

According to a report by ABC News, she stated: ‘Divorce is difficult for everyone. It’s truly awful, and it’s easy to put on a brave face. Some days you feel okay, and other days are much harder.’

The Australian actress was married to Tom Cruise, 63, for 11 years, from 1990 until 2001. During their marriage, they adopted two children: Isabella, who is now 32, and Connor, 30.

During a private conversation in 2001, Nicole also shared that she believed she would remain married forever.

News surfaced on Monday that Keith had left the family home in Nashville and found a place nearby. This followed reports that he was feeling a ‘lack of intimacy’ and unhappiness within the marriage.

However, just one day later, she filed for divorce in Davidson County, Tennessee, stating that they had “irreconcilable differences.”

In other words, no need to worry about a relapse into addiction.

Keith’s focus, the friend says, remains solely on co-parenting his daughters.

‘Keith tends to avoid dealing with his problems when he’s struggling,’ his friend explained. ‘I’m worried he might turn to alcohol to cope. He insists he’s doing alright and that everything is fine, but he won’t share any details beyond that.

He won’t be publicly complaining about his divorce. His main concern is his children and how they’ll adjust to having parents who are no longer together, and he assures everyone he’ll remain committed to staying sober for their well-being. I want to think that’s genuine.
