Fans of Taylor Swift are planning a campaign to make her new album, released on Friday, more popular on streaming services than Adele’s music. They’re hoping to boost Swift’s streams and potentially surpass Adele in the rankings.
Oh my gosh, you guys, can you believe it?! Taylor – yes, the one and only – is dropping a new album called The Life of a Showgirl! I’m seriously losing it! As a devoted superfan, I’m absolutely giddy with excitement over this new music. She’s 35, but honestly, she could release a grocery list and I’d be thrilled! This is going to be amazing!
Before the album release, Swifties are aiming to surpass Adele’s record for the most number-one songs on Apple Music, both for albums and individual tracks.
Currently, Adele holds the record for the most number one hits on Apple Music Songs. Her song Easy On Me reached the top spot in 121 countries.
As a dedicated fan, I’m excited to share that we’re planning a coordinated effort this time! We’re all determined to break the record for #1’s on Apple Music, both for the album and the single. It’s going to be amazing!
‘The Fate of Ophelia will need 122 #1s on Apple Music to break the platform’s record.

‘The Life of a Showgirl will need 143 #1s on Apple Music Albums.
‘We’ll only have one version of each according to Taylor, so it’ll be 10x easier than other times.’
This follows fan reactions – specifically, some eyerolls – to recently revealed lyrics from the upcoming album, Life of a Showgirl, which were shared ahead of the album’s release.
After a line from her song – where she complains about the difficulties of her luxurious lifestyle – became public, she was widely mocked by people online.
‘Oftentimes it doesn’t feel so glamorous to be me,’ the phrasing from the unknown song read.
I was so excited to be at the Spotify pop-up event in New York City celebrating her new album! They revealed a snippet of the lyrics there, and it was incredible. To top it all off, they put up a huge billboard right in the middle of Times Square – it was an amazing experience!
Taylor Swift, named a billionaire by Forbes in 2024, received criticism for what many considered an insensitive message. One person responded with: ‘Aww, poor baby. She can sulk and count her millions.‘
Someone else commented, ‘Taylor Swift is pretending to struggle when her Eras Tour made far more than $1,000,’ implying the tour was a massive financial success.
Someone else pointed out: ‘She’s highlighting the negative aspects of being famous, but reviewers might argue it’s just the familiar tactic of playing the victim, presented in a fresh way.’

The criticism on Reddit kept coming, and one user pointed out how bad it looked to highlight those specific words.
‘Even if it turns out to be a great song, this is an awful lyric to lead with PRwise,’ one posted.
Another Redditer, clearly puzzled, wrote, ‘What a strange thing to say, especially given the difficulties many are facing right now,’
Someone else commented: ‘I agree, it comes across as insensitive. Many of us have jobs that feel stifling and pay much less. If you dislike it that much, consider leaving. She could still have a thriving career writing songs for other artists.’
A potential concern about viewers misinterpreting the lyrics was addressed in advance. It was noted that the phrase was released without any extra details or context.
Yep. & someone else pointed out, before anyone brings up ‘bUt ThE COnTeXT maTtErS’, that the lyric was posted intentionally without any context, so that argument doesn’t really apply lol.
However, one fan stated they wanted to wait and hear the song before forming an opinion. Another person drew a comparison to Britney Spears’ song Lucky, which explores the life of a pop star who feels misunderstood.
Someone else added that the criticism aimed at the celebrity wasn’t justified, stating: ‘She definitely has a lot of advantages, but she’s still a human being.’
However, one Redditor commented that the lyrics still seemed a bit much: ‘There are many celebrities at or near her status who value and actively seek more privacy, and they don’t repeatedly bring up the same issues with fame in their music… I’m looking forward to the album, but I can’t help but roll my eyes at lines like these.‘
The exact origin of the lyric is currently unknown, but many believe it might come from the album’s forthcoming track, Elizabeth Taylor.
Swift revealed her next album’s title in the early hours of 12 August, announcing it at 12.12am.

The next day, she joined New Heights, the podcast led by her NFL player fiancé Travis Kelce, 35, and his brother Jason, to provide more information about the launch.
The Life of a Showgirl will include 12 songs, and notably features a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter on the song that shares the show’s title.
It follows Taylor’s previous release, The Tortured Poets Department, which came out in April 2024.
On August 31st, Spotify announced through Instagram that The Life of a Showgirl had broken the record for the most pre-saves on its Countdown Page.
Oh my gosh, I can barely contain myself! The album is finally coming out and I’ve already marked the date! I’m going to be streaming it the *second* it’s available, of course, but I also need to download a copy to *own* forever! And if that wasn’t enough, you can even purchase a physical copy! Seriously, is this real life? Plus, they said it’ll be broadcast on SiriusXM too, so I can listen in my car! I’m so ready!
