Story Highlights
- Talking Tom gets a vibrant remastered look with brighter animations and more playful tricks.
- Talking Tom wasn’t just a game, he became a pocket-sized friend for many growing up.
Outfit7 just remastered Talking Tom Cat, and it seriously made me think back. This little guy wasn’t just a game to me-he was like my first little buddy I carried around in my pocket. It’s crazy to think it was fifteen years ago, way before everyone was obsessed with mobile games, that Talking Tom had this special something that no other game did.
He was able to mimic me, responding with laughter and repeating my words in a comical voice, which surprisingly made him seem genuine. The remaster updates his appearance for 2025 with improved animations and added playful behaviors, but the core of his charm-that sense of connection with a little companion who simply “gets” you-remains unchanged.
Meeting Talking Tom for the first time
I was about 11 years old when my dad got his first Android phone, a Samsung Galaxy Y. Android was already becoming popular with games like Angry Birds and Temple Run, and I quickly downloaded them as well. However, the first thing that really grabbed my attention was Talking Tom.

The thought of a virtual pet that could mimic my voice and respond to my touch initially seemed like “Wait, what? Could this actually work?” I even attempted the same thing with our actual cat, and quickly discovered that real cats don’t repeat after you. The ointment on the scratches stung a bit, though. Chatting with Tom was a different experience, and thankfully, if he scratched, it wouldn’t be painful!

I found myself smiling at his adorable voice, the small movements he made while listening, and his playful reactions to being poked or scratched. Each conversation felt uniquely personal, as if he genuinely cared about what I said. I could easily spend hours simply chatting with him, playfully interacting, and enjoying his funny expressions.
Growing up with a Pocket Companion
Things improved further when my dad got a larger Android phone. I used to really enjoy watching Tom’s playful behavior; it was a genuinely happy part of my day.

Honestly, every little reaction – a smirk, an eyebrow raise, even a startled jump when I messed with him – felt so incredibly real. It didn’t even matter that he was just pixels on the screen! He felt like my little companion, always there, always ready for some fun. I bet a lot of other players feel the same way – we all have those stories, right?
The remaster keeps the magic alive
With the 2025 remaster, Tom has been completely revamped. His animations are now more fluid, his movements are more natural, and the game worlds are more vibrant. Players can now have even more fun with new additions like voice modulators, food chaos, and social sharing.

For me, and for a lot of other people, the improvements don’t take away from what makes the game special-they actually make it even better. Tom still responds to you, still has conversations, and still brings a smile to your face. The core of what makes this character so lovable hasn’t changed, even as the game moves forward into 2025.
Still our Pocket-Sized Friend
Talking Tom isn’t just a mobile game; it’s a nostalgic experience. He represents cherished memories, a small digital friend, and a connection to the beginning of mobile gaming. This updated version introduces him to a new audience, but for those of us who enjoyed laughing at, poking, and talking to him when we were younger, he’ll forever be that familiar face we carried with us.
Tom is a great friend who always pays attention, responds quickly, and can instantly lift your spirits with just a few interactions. He remains the same playful and hilarious cat we all know and love, showing that true friendships – even those found online – can last forever.

This updated version shows that Tom isn’t just a character from older games; he’s back to amuse a new group of players who are looking for more hilarious moments, more exciting gameplay, and a more playful companion than ever before.
If you have an Android phone or an iOS device, you can enjoy the remastered version by downloading or updating the current Talking Tom Cat app. However, if you’re using an iPad, you’ll need to download the updated version as a separate download.
