Jason Statham’s Shelter Sets 2026 Release Date

Action movie director Ric Roman Waugh will have two films released in 2026. Black Bear has announced the release date for the director’s latest action thriller, which is now officially named Shelter.

According to Deadline, Shelter is a new film distributed by Black Bear, which started its U.S. theatrical distribution branch in July. The independent studio has scheduled the action thriller for release on January 30, 2026. The film features Jason Statham as a man living a solitary life in a house by the ocean. The movie’s description states, “When he rescues a young girl from drowning during a fierce storm, he unintentionally starts a series of events that quickly brings danger to his doorstep, forcing him to deal with decisions he made in the past,” according to the logline for Shelter.

Benjamin Kramer, U.S. distribution president at Black Bear, stated, “Jason is a true icon and remains at the peak of his career.” He continued, “Pairing him with Ric, a well-respected figure in the action genre, combined with a compelling narrative and a talented cast, suggests this film will be an unmissable experience.”

The cast includes Bodhi Rae (Hamnet), Naomi Ackie (Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance with Somebody), and Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean). Ward Perry penned the screenplay. Shelter represents the first project where Jason Statham has teamed up with director Guy Waugh, who has become well-known for his many films with Gerard Butler. Waugh previously directed Butler in Angel Has Fallen (2019), Greenland (2020), Kandahar (2023), and is set to direct him again in the forthcoming Greenland 2: Migration (2026).

What Other Jason Statham Movie Is Coming in 2026?

Another action movie starring Jason Statham, Mutiny, is scheduled for 2026 and interestingly, it was also directed by someone who recently worked with Gerard Butler. Jean-François Richet, the director of Butler’s 2023 film Plane, directed Mutiny, which features Statham as a former NYPD officer wrongly accused of killing a wealthy friend. Annabelle Wallis and Roland Møller also star in this action thriller, which was , before Lionsgate decided to release Greenland 2: Migration instead. The studio is now planning a Summer 2026 release for Mutiny.

As of today, the only Jason Statham movies I know for sure are coming out in 2026 are Shelter and Mutiny. I’ve heard they’ve just started filming the sequel to The Beekeeper, but Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t announced a release date yet. It *could* come out late 2026, but they might hold it back until January 2027 – that’s when the first one was released, and they’re probably hoping for a similar box office performance. Speaking of which, the first Beekeeper really surprised everyone – it was a huge hit, making over $162 million worldwide back in early 2024!

Details about the story of The Beekeeper 2 are still being kept secret, but the movie will once again feature Jason Statham alongside Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, and Jemma Redgrave – all returning cast members from the first film. Joining them this time are professional wrestler Adam Copeland, and Pom Klementieff, known for her memorable roles in Mission: Impossible and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Shelter is scheduled to open in theaters on Jan. 30, 2026.
