Vicky Pattison reveals she is still vaping despite admitting shame – as she says her e-cigarette is a Strictly ‘training essential’

As a lifestyle expert, I’m hearing a lot about celebrities and their habits, and recently Vicky Pattison has been very open about her own. She’s confessed she still vapes, even though she feels a bit ashamed about it! Interestingly, she’s jokingly called her e-cigarette a ‘training essential‘ as she prepares for Strictly Come Dancing. It’s relatable – we all have those little habits, don’t we?

The TV personality, 37, currently appearing on the BBC show with her professional partner Kai Widdrington, shared that everything fell apart because of the pressure she was under.

On her Get A Grip podcast, Vicky explained that while she ‘wasn’t proud of it,’ she really needed to relax. 

She shared that letting go of things is genuinely difficult. She couldn’t pinpoint a precise moment when things shifted. Last week… it’s often driven by my feelings. For example, I realize I’m doing it… I’m simply longing for some peace and quiet. It’s a common struggle.

Since my busy schedule doesn’t allow me to grow it the natural way, I’m trying an artificial method. I’m really putting in the effort, and I think I’ll eventually stop, but I’m trying to make it work for now.

I had been managing to avoid vaping for about five or six days, but then I relapsed. So, I’ve started vaping again. I’m not happy about it, but it’s just something I do. I guess I’m a vapist!

Vicky followed up with an Instagram Story post, sharing a picture of some of the things she carries with her, and that included her vape.

Vicky shared that she felt rather shy and small – like a ‘little pudding’ – after the Strictly celebrities and professional dancers all met for the first time.

You’re among the exquisitely crafted, petite professional dancers, as if sculpted by angels – truly breathtaking creatures – and you’re just standing there, looking somewhat awkward and out of place in your workout clothes.

And it’s even before you begin to dance and discover just how uncoordinated you are. ‘I was completely stunned,’ she said.

About two years ago, Vicky shared that she’d made a vision board. Among images of things like ‘wedding dresses, engagement rings, puppies and houses’ was a photo of former Hollyoaks actress and 2017 Strictly star Gemma Atkinson, all decked out in sequins – with Vicky’s face photoshopped onto it.

‘I feel like a proper creep,’ she laughed. ‘But I love a bit of manifestation.’ 

Vicky says her vision board has helped her achieve all sorts of goals, both professionally and personally – including making documentaries, hosting radio programs, getting a dog, and even finding a husband. It’s been instrumental in turning her dreams into reality.

The other competitors this year include Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, also known as Gladiator Nitro, actors Alex Kingston, Stefan Dennis, Lewis Cope and Balvinder Sopal, former footballers Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Karen Carney, drag artist La Voix, ex-rugby player Chris Robshaw, model Ellie Goldstein – who has Down’s syndrome – and TV personalities Thomas Skinner and Ross King.

Strictly Come Dancing has announced some big changes, specifically a significant alteration to how the results are revealed.

During the finale of the season’s first live show, presenters Claudia Winkelman and Tess Daly revealed that head judge Shirley Ballas will no longer have the final say in deciding which contestant is eliminated when dancers receive the lowest scores and end up in the bottom two.

For the past seven years, Shirley has been responsible for deciding which of the two lowest-scoring couples is eliminated from the competition when the judges’ scores are tied after the dance-off. She makes the final decision in these situations.

Instead of Shirley making the final call, a different judge each week will make the final call.

The new update begins next week, and the first two contestants from the series will be eliminated through voting.

The identity of the judge for the first week remained undisclosed, but the celebrity contestants voiced their concerns regarding the alteration. They expressed worry about the change.
