Tom Holland corrects a reporter who calls Zendaya his girlfriend rather than fiancée in heartwarming clip

Tom Holland playfully corrected a reporter who referred to Zendaya as his ‘girlfriend’.

After dating for four years, the couple announced their engagement when Zendaya first showed off her ring at the Golden Globes in January.

And Spider-Man star Tom, 29, was eager to let everyone know that the actress, also 29, is now his fiancé.

During a panel interview, a journalist told Tom: ‘I introduced my daughter to your girlfriend, and she was really excited – it made me feel like an amazing father!’

Tom laughed and corrected him by saying: ‘fiancée’. 

The couple have been together since 2021 and share a $3.7 million home in the affluent Richmond area of London.

According to sources who spoke with DailyMail.com, Tom followed a traditional route and sought approval from Zendaya’s family before proposing to his Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star.

According to an insider, the proposal was really sweet and romantic and took place during the holiday season. He proposed in a traditional manner, asking her parents for their blessing first. Everyone is incredibly happy about it.

The source went on to say, ‘They’re a very down-to-earth couple when they’re at home, and she’s eager to build a future with him.’

She’s achieved all her goals, and now she’s looking forward to marrying Tom and starting a family – that’s her next big step.

Tom has consistently shown himself to be a supportive partner to Zendaya, and a recent example of this was when he was photographed carrying her Louis Vuitton handbag as they departed the Venice Film Festival in 2023. 

In October 2024, Tom became widely known online after he shielded his fiancée from a group of photographers while they were in New York.

The film star demonstrated his gentlemanly behavior, making sure Zendaya stayed near him as they walked through a crowd of photographers. He chivalrously kept her close as they faced the paparazzi.

The British celebrity held her hand and put a reassuring hand on her back, calling out, ‘Guys watch out!‘ as they both attempted to reach their car.

He then said: ‘give us a little bit of space’ before they headed off.’

The celebrity was also observed saying ‘get out of the fg way’ while assisting Zendaya – who was surrounded by admirers and photographers – by taking her hand and guiding her into the event earlier that night.

Fans immediately went to social media and started calling him a ‘king,’ with one person posting: ‘I didn’t really know much about Mr. Holland’s playing style before, but this shows he’s a true player.’

Another typed: ‘Yes, this is why we love ya king.’

People online commented, ‘Damn major props to Tom Holland protecting Zendaya‘ and ‘and you know where this would happen a Notting Hill style remake starring Zendaya and Tom Holland.’

Zendaya has often spoken about how much she enjoys working with Tom, explaining: ‘It feels completely natural, really. You feel particularly secure when you’re acting alongside someone you trust.‘
