On Tuesday, nine people who switched on the Today show to watch Karl Stefanovic were surprised and let down when the well-known presenter wasn’t in the studio. They had expected to see him, but he was nowhere to be found.
The 51-year-old TV personality was absent from the morning program, and Charles Croucher stepped in to co-host with Sarah Abo.
Croucher and Abo, both 39, didn’t mention Stefanovic’s whereabouts, but a picture posted by Jasmine (his wife) on Instagram, taken by the water, indicates he may be on vacation.
The photo seemed to be captured in the very early morning and depicted a beach with low lighting. Stefanovic’s wife posted it on her social media account on Tuesday.
Far off, a man was visible standing on the beach while a dog swam towards him in the water, seemingly to retrieve an object.
It’s unclear if the man was Stefanovic or just a passer-by.

In response to a query from the Daily Mail, a Nine representative stated: ‘Karl is currently on vacation and is expected back next week.‘
He hasn’t been at the studio for a few months, following reports that Stefanovic received a substantial, long-term contract offer from Nine.
According to a report in The Australian in June, the breakfast show host has apparently secured a deal worth $3 million annually.
According to nine sources, the network’s leaders recently collected funds at their North Sydney office on Denison St and have offered him a contract valued at approximately $3 million annually,” reported the paper’s Media Diary.
At the time, Stefanovic was earning $2.8 million annually through his contract, and there was talk that his salary would increase considerably as he continued to host the popular breakfast program.
The publication reports that Nine reportedly agreed to the TV presenter’s requests after he warned he would leave if they offered him a contract with insufficient pay.
The announcement was surprising, especially when you consider that competing breakfast show hosts Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington earn a relatively modest $2 million combined.
Additionally, according to Mediaweek, Stefanovic’s Today co-host, Abo, earns $800,000 annually. This emphasizes a significant difference in pay between the two, revealing a clear gender pay gap.

A report published by The Australian in May, called the inaugural TV Rich List, revealed that Stefanovic earns a remarkable $2 million more annually than his co-host, Abo. This figure is considered quite substantial.
The report gathered the 35 top salaries earned by television personalities on Australia’s three main commercial channels: Channel Seven, Nine, and Network 10.
The information showed that Stefanovic earns the most among television personalities in Australia, with an impressive annual income of $2.8 million. This is nearly three times the amount earned by Abo.
This is quite different from what his colleague on Today earns; they ranked tenth with a salary of $800,000.
