Jennifer Lopez cheers on Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl announcement five years after he joined her on the iconic stage

As a lifestyle expert, I’m loving the buzz around the NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show! It was so great to see Jennifer Lopez publicly showing her support for Bad Bunny after the announcement on Sunday that he’ll be headlining the show early next year. It’s wonderful to see artists supporting each other, and I’m already excited for what I’m sure will be an incredible performance!

Oh my gosh, you guys, Bad Bunny – my absolute everything! – is going to be performing on February 8th! Can you believe it?! It’s all happening at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, right where the big game is! I’m already counting down the seconds! I’ve *got* to be there!

Shortly after the announcement, thrilled fans rushed to X (formerly Twitter) to express their joy. Other musicians also shared their reactions to the rapper being selected to perform at the yearly event.

Lopez, 56, shared a picture of them on her Instagram stories. She added text at the bottom saying, ‘Bori ganggg @badbunnypar,’ and included a clapping hands emoji.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following these two for a while, and it’s great to see them team up again! They’ve worked together before – you might remember their hit song, Te Guste, which came out in 2018. It’s always exciting when talented artists collaborate, and this is definitely one to watch!

The singer of On The Floor also shared a clip announcing the news and wrote, ‘Ahora te toca a ti!!!!,’ which translates to, ‘Now it’s your turn.’

The performer also added, ‘bori gang lets goooooo @badbunnypr.’

Bad Bunny – whose full name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio – has performed at the Super Bowl Halftime show before.

He previously performed as a guest in 2020 when Jennifer Lopez and Shakira were the main performers at the show held in Miami Gardens, Florida.

The Hips Don’t Lie singer also showed her support for the Monaco hitmaker by sharing the announcement on Instagram and writing, ‘Welcome back to the Super Bowl stage! Here’s to my Latin people!! @badbunnypr.’

Bruno Mars took to X to write a supportive message and also shared a statement from the Puerto Rican rapper.

The singer explained, “What I’m feeling is bigger than just me,Bad Bunny said in a statement. “It’s about honoring those who paved the way, who worked so hard so I could achieve success… this is for my community, my heritage, and everything we’ve been through.”

And tell your grandma we’re going to be the SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW,” Mars continued, then added, ‘Go get ’em Bad Bunny!’

Many other fans went to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the announcement of Bad Bunny as a headliner. One fan wrote, ‘The most streamed artist worldwide from 2020-22. Will be interesting to see the blowback on this one.

Someone else shared their excitement for February, saying, ‘Bad Bunny brings that global energy to the biggest stage in sports.

‘It doesn’t matter if you like Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl halftime act,’ one X user commented.

What’s truly important is that Bad Bunny is considered the best celebrity wrestler ever, and his entrance is legendary,” they stated.

One fan excitedly shared, ‘Bringing Puerto Rico’s energy to the Bay Area – that’s a fantastic way to connect cultures through football. Levi’s Stadium is going to be buzzing with that kind of broad appeal.’

It was announced that Bad Bunny would headline the halftime show during Super Bowl LX on Sunday.

I’m so excited to see him perform on one of the biggest music stages! It’s a little surprising, though, considering he recently mentioned ICE agents as the reason he hadn’t planned any shows in the mainland US for his next tour. Still, I’m thrilled he’s performing, and I’ll definitely be there! It’s going to be amazing.

The announcement comes after weeks of guessing about who would be the performer. The NFL usually reveals the halftime show artist during Week 1 of the season.

Just before going on stage, he tweeted in Spanish, saying, ‘I’ve been considering this for a few days now, and after talking it over with my team, I’ve decided to perform at only one show in the United States.’

His 2025 album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, topped the Billboard 200 chart – making it his fourth No. 1 album in the U.S.

However, the tour supporting that album won’t be coming to the mainland United States. Instead, he completed a 31-show residency at the Jose Miguel Agrelot Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Oh my gosh, you won’t *believe* what I just read! He was talking to Variety, and he basically said he’s refusing to perform anywhere in the mainland US! Can you even imagine?! He explained it’s because of how long he’s been living in Puerto Rico – which, let’s remember, *is* part of the US – and also because of how the Trump Administration was really ramping up the use of ICE agents. It’s like, he’s making a *statement*! He just won’t feel safe performing here with all that going on, and honestly? I totally get it. It’s so brave of him!

“Honestly, yes,” he responded. “There were several reasons I didn’t come to the U.S., but none of them stemmed from dislike – I’ve performed there often.”

Every one of the shows has done well. They’ve all been truly outstanding. I’ve really appreciated the chance to connect with Latinos who have made their lives in the U.S. It’s been a rewarding experience.

Specifically regarding a residency in Puerto Rico-considering we’re a US territory-people from the mainland US were welcome to attend the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans living in the United States, like anyone else, could also travel here, or anywhere else in the world. It was open to all.

We were really worried about the possibility of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) being present outside my concert. It was a major concern we discussed – like, the potential for them to show up was something we were very concerned about.

As a huge fan, I’d been hearing for ages that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was really hoping Taylor Swift would perform at the show. It especially seemed likely after she announced she was engaged to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce – everyone was buzzing about it! I was so excited at the possibility, and it felt like it was finally going to happen.

For the week of September 19, the Spotify Weekly Top Artists Global chart shows that Bad Bunny is the second most popular artist, following Swift.

He has over 77million monthly listeners on the platform and over 101million followers on Spotify.

Bad Bunny is widely recognized for making Spanish-language rap and trap music popular around the globe. He’s been a key figure in bringing these genres to a worldwide audience.

He’s received three Grammy Awards and eleven Latin Grammy Awards. Additionally, two of his albums – YHLQMDLG and El Último Tour Del Mundo, both released in 2020 – have achieved Platinum status in the United States.
