Following the success of Slow Horses, Apple TV+ is offering viewers another captivating show. Down Cemetery Road features plenty of dry wit, a fantastic cast, and a compelling central mystery to solve.
The team behind Slow Horses, the popular series, has just dropped a first look at their new show, which is set in Oxford.
The clip features an unexpected pair of investigators: ordinary citizen Sarah Trafford (Ruth Wilson) and private detective Zoë Boehm (Emma Thompson). They delve into a missing person case that quickly appears to be a far-reaching conspiracy, potentially involving the government.
What to Read Next
Down Cemetery Road is based on the first book in the Zoë Boehm series by Mick Herron, the author also known for the Slough House novels which inspired Slow Horses.
In a review, Publisher’s Weekly praised the book as a “superb thriller” featuring “well-developed characters”. They highlighted Herron as one of the “most skilled and witty thriller writers writing in English today”.

Okay, so from the trailer, it looks like Sarah and Zoë are in for a seriously exciting adventure! It seems they’ll be scaling some pretty high places to figure out what’s really going on – basically, they’re on a quest to uncover the truth. I’m already hooked!
The video also captures Sarah’s initial meeting with the private investigator. He wrongly assumes she’s been hired to follow a cheating spouse, but her reasons for being there are completely different.
“I suspect someone isn’t being truthful,” Sarah shared with Zoë, referring to an explosion that disturbed the peace of a normally calm residential area near Oxford.
After a house explodes right next door, leaving two people dead and a young girl missing, Sarah becomes determined to find her, according to the story’s description.
According to the story description, Zoë and Sarah unexpectedly become entangled in a complicated plot. This conspiracy uncovers that individuals previously thought to be deceased are actually still alive, even as more living people are quickly dying, the synopsis explains.

Alongside Wilson, playing Sarah, and Thompson as Zoë, the cast includes Killing Eve’s Adeel Akhtar, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett from Culprits, and Tom Goodman-Hill, known for Ideal. They are joined by Darren Boyd, Tom Riley, Adam Godley, Sinead Matthews, Ken Nwosu, Fehinti Balogun, and Aiysha Hart.
Down Cemetery Road is written and executive produced by Morwenna Banks, who previously penned episodes of Slow Horses. She joins Colin Thompson, Mick Herron, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash of 60Forty Films as executive producers.
Natalie Bailey directed the series. She previously directed Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Run and Bay of Fires.
The first two episodes of Down Cemetery Road will premiere on Apple TV+ on October 29th. The remaining six episodes will then be released each Wednesday until December 10th.
