Titus Welliver still plays the current version of Harry Bosch in *Ballard*, but he’s appearing in fewer episodes of the first season. If this new storyline leads to a younger Harry Bosch being cast-like with actor Meade-Mullarkey-it would be the first time Amazon Prime has shown a younger version of the character.

The world of Bosch has been changing since *Bosch: Legacy* ended in April 2025 after only three seasons. Titus Welliver, who played the lead role for over ten years, was clearly upset by the show’s sudden cancellation. He told ScreenRant he felt bad about it, explaining that after playing a character for so long, it’s impossible not to become attached.
After Titus Welliver spent over ten years defining the character of Harry Bosch in both *Bosch* (2014-2021) and *Bosch: Legacy* (2022-2025), having a different actor play him – even in flashbacks – would be a noticeable change. However, this approach fits with how *Bosch: Legacy* ended, with a scene where Maggie Q’s Ballard meets Welliver’s Bosch, connecting the two shows. From Amazon’s point of view, using flashbacks allows them to keep Bosch as a key part of the franchise while also opening up possibilities for future seasons and potential spin-offs.
