The latest update to Honkai: Star Rail, version 3.6, introduces the new 5-star character, Evernight. Evernight is an Ice-type character who follows the Path of Remembrance. This guide will show you how to build and maximize Evernight’s abilities, with a detailed look at her skills and recommended setups for best performance.
Evernight Gameplay
Evernight is a support character specializing in Ice, who can both boost allies and deal damage in a unique way. Her key ability involves summoning her companion, Evey, who shares her health and helps build up a resource called Memoria, while also attacking enemies. Activating her ability costs 10% of her health, but doesn’t use any Skill Points, and it also increases the critical damage of all memosprites based on Evernight’s own stats.
Ultimate activates Evey again and also enters Darkest Riddle, a powerful state that increases damage dealt to enemies, strengthens both Evernight and Evey, and provides strong resistance to crowd control. While in this state, Evernight rapidly generates Memoria, allowing her to unleash devastating damage through Evey’s unique ability. The core strategy revolves around repeatedly summoning, building up Memoria, and then using it to significantly boost the team’s overall power.
Evey is central to Evernight’s abilities. She’s fast, can’t be stunned, and draws enemy attention, fighting alongside Evernight while building up a resource called Memoria whenever she takes damage. Once Memoria is fully charged – at 16 or more stacks – Evey unleashes a powerful area-of-effect attack that gets stronger with Evernight’s health, clearing out enemies before she vanishes.
Evernight deals massive damage and significantly boosts her own speed, allowing for quick and consistent attacks. Her abilities work well together, turning health loss into critical damage, replenishing energy with powerful skills, and giving her a head start in battles. Essentially, Evernight offers powerful benefits to the whole team, weakens enemies, and deals increasing damage over time. However, playing her effectively requires precise timing of health usage, building up her Memoria, and strategically using her ability to temporarily vanish for optimal results.

Honkai Star Rail Evernight Best Relics and Planar Ornaments
When building Evernight in Honkai: Star Rail, the most important thing is to increase her damage output and ability to stay alive. This guide will cover the best relics, main stats, and planar ornaments to help you do just that.
- Body (Crit DMG%)
- Feet (HP)
- Planar Spear (HP> DMG)
- Link Rope (HP)
Relic Set
World-Remaking Deliverer | Evernight has a brand-new relic set in 3.6 designed specifically for her, and it’s easily her best-in-slot. It gives CRIT Rate +8%, then boosts both Evernight’s and Evey’s max HP whenever she uses a Basic or Skill while Evey is on the field. On top of that, this relic also grants an all-ally DMG buff until her next Basic or Skill, making it extremely valuable in both support and DPS roles. |
Scholar Lost in Erudition/Longevous Disciple | Until you farm this set, you can run 2-piece combinations like HP% or DMG% sets to patch her stats. |
Planar Ornaments
Bone Collection’s Serene Demesne | For planars, Demesne is a solid default choice |
Arcadia of Woven Dreams | Arcadia becomes better if you’re running Evernight as a main carry. |
Honkai Star Rail Evernight Best Light Cone
Evernight can be challenging for free players. Most 4- and 3-star Light Cones aren’t very effective with her abilities. Unlike many other damage-dealing characters, she doesn’t have a strong free-to-play Light Cone option, so getting her signature Light Cone is strongly advised to maximize her performance.

To Evernight’s Stars (Evernight 5* Light Cone) | Evernight’s signature Light Cone is absolutely her best option, and unfortunately, there’s no real budget substitute. It gives her a huge max HP buff, and then grants a passive effect called Noctis whenever her memosprite acts. This triggers a powerful 20% DEF Ignore for all memosprites, making it not just a self-boost but a teamwide amplification in comps built around them. On top of that, it provides extra DMG for both Evernight and Evey, as well as energy restoration whenever Evey disappears. All of these effects directly address her biggest needs: energy sustain, damage scaling, and team buffing, making the cone nearly mandatory if you want to optimize her. |
Make Farewells More Beautiful (5*) | The only real competitor is Castorice’s signature Light Cone, and that’s only when you’re running Evernight as a main DPS. In that setup, Castorice’s cone can sometimes edge out by giving strong personal uptime through forward advances, though you lose out on the DEF Ignore synergy, which massively helps allies like Hyacine. |
Best Team Comps for Evernight in Honkai Star Rail
Castorice Team Comp
The strongest part of the Evernight team is the combination of Castorice and Hyacine, where she really excels. Castorice greatly benefits from Evernight’s consistent health drain, both through her own abilities and from Evey vanishing after powerful Memoria attacks. Every bit of health lost charges Castorice’s passive ability, making them a perfectly matched pair.

Adding Hyacine to the team makes things even better. Her ability, Little Ica, quickly restores health, building up a large Newbud charge while also keeping everyone alive. Plus, Evernight’s Darkest Riddle buffs significantly strengthen the whole team, adding 30% vulnerability, over 100% Critical Damage for memosprites, and even 20% Defense Ignore with her main attack. This is especially helpful for Hyacine, as she doesn’t usually benefit as much from Critical Damage boosts, and Evernight greatly increases her overall power.
Evernight Hyper-carry
Beyond that, Remembrance MC is an incredibly strong partner for Evernight. She provides extra turns, consistent high damage, and plenty of energy for the team. Her ability to act outside of normal turns lets you use extra Evernight skills during Darkest Riddle, leading to huge amounts of Memoria and more powerful Dream Dissolving attacks than usual. This makes Remembrance MC arguably the best character to enable Evernight in both solo and dual-carry teams. A common Evernight solo-carry team includes Evernight, Remembrance MC, and Tribbie (or alternatives like Cipher, Ruan Mei, or Silver Wolf), along with Hyacine for healing and even more Memoria generation.
Is Evernight worth pulling in HSR
Is Evernight worth getting? Generally, yes, but it depends. She’s a fantastic unit, especially if you already use or plan to use Castorice, as they create a very powerful and effective team together. She provides significant buffs, deals good damage even as a secondary damage dealer, and can even replace units like Tribell to allow them to be used elsewhere.
Furthermore, investing in Evernight’s vertical progression is highly effective. Even without Castorice, a fully developed Evernight can function as a primary damage dealer, matching or even exceeding the performance of a solo Castorice in optimized team compositions. However, she isn’t a versatile choice. Unlike Anaxa, who can fit into many different teams, Evernight relies heavily on teams built around memosprites and doesn’t work well with units like Aglaea.
Evernight is a powerful character, but her effectiveness really depends on your team. If you don’t use Castorice and Hyacine, she won’t be as strong, as her abilities are designed to work with them. However, if you do use those characters, or you’re looking for a damage dealer who can also provide excellent support and scales with HP, she’s a great choice. She’s specialized, but excels in the right situation.
