He was cancelled – unfairly he always claimed – at the height of Hollywood’s #MeToo movement.
Chris Noth, famous for playing Mr. Big in Sex and the City, is returning to movies after a four-year absence. He’ll be taking on a role quite different from the one that made him well-known worldwide.
70-year-old actor Noth will star in a suspenseful psychological thriller called ‘The Block,’ playing a chilling horror writer reminiscent of Stephen King. The film is scheduled to come out next year.
Film director Craig Singer told The Mail on Sunday that Chris’s character is completely different from the typical villain. He believes audiences will be surprised by Chris’s amazing performance, calling him a truly talented actor who did a fantastic job.
When Mr. Big unexpectedly died in the first episode of the Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That, in 2021, Kristin Davis (who plays Charlotte York Goldenblatt, often referred to as ‘Noth’s world’ due to her character’s relationship with Mr. Big) was deeply upset.
Two women separately accused him of sexual assault, alleging incidents occurred in 2004 and 2015. They have chosen to remain anonymous.

No one was ever charged with any crime, and police in Los Angeles and New York have confirmed they are not currently investigating the reported incidents.
Noth strongly rejected the accusations, calling them completely untrue and stating the interactions were consensual. However, the consequences were immediate, and he hasn’t appeared in any films or television shows since.
Viewers of Sex and the City were saddened by the death of Mr. Big, Carrie Bradshaw’s husband (played by Chris Noth), who died of a heart attack while using a Peloton bike. However, some people made jokes about Noth avoiding appearing in the poorly received sequel series.
Director Singer stated he immediately cast Noth, who is also known for his roles in shows like Law & Order and The Good Wife.
We met through a friend. Chris was initially cast in a minor role, but he ultimately became crucial to the story. He played a secluded, Stephen King-esque horror writer who guides the main character.
I spoke with several industry professionals to gauge how the allegations might impact the movie, and the general consensus was that the controversy had largely blown over.
