The popular ’90s TV show *Baywatch* is being revived for a new season. Originally airing from 1989 to 2001, the series will return with 12 episodes on the Fox network.
The show is scheduled to premiere between late 2026 and early 2027. The original creators – Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, and Doug Schwartz – are all returning as executive producers. Matt Nix, known for creating shows like The Gifted (a spin-off of X-Men) and the True Lies TV series, will be the showrunner.
The original *Baywatch* television show, famous for its slow-motion shots of lifeguards running, starred David Hasselhoff. A movie adaptation of the same name, featuring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron, was released in 2017.

Fox Television Network President Michael Thorn announced that the classic show *Baywatch* is getting a reboot. He explained that the original series was hugely popular and made lifeguards famous, and now Fox is teaming up with Fremantle to bring a new version to audiences.
Fox and Fremantle, working with Matt Nix and the original creator of the show, Greg Bonann, are reimagining *Baywatch* for a new audience. They plan to deliver exciting new stories, introduce a fresh cast, and maintain the over-the-top action that made the series a worldwide hit.

Christian Vesper, CEO of Global Drama at Fremantle, stated that *Baywatch* is a valuable and globally recognized show with a lasting legacy. He believes Fox is the ideal partner to help Fremantle preserve that legacy.
We’re lucky to have Matt Nix leading the project; he’s a fantastic storyteller. We want to bring back longtime fans and also attract a new audience to these iconic characters and their world.

So far, no actors have been officially announced for the project. This means it’s still unclear whether original cast members like David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson will be involved.
They both appeared in the 2017 film, which received poor reviews and even won a Razzie Award for being hilariously bad.
Okay, so Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson actually *went up* to accept his Razzie award, which was hilarious! He said something like, ‘I’m totally honored to get this, and I appreciate all you critics and fans. Honestly, when a movie is *so* bad it’s good, that’s just how it is!’ It was a really funny, self-aware moment.
