“The ultimate girl power movie!” Sheridan Smith fans will want to know about her first movie role in 4 years

Sheridan Smith is starring in a new film – her first in four years! Before this, the popular British actress appeared in *The Railway Children Return*, which was filmed in the spring and summer of 2021.

So, it’s been four years since my last project, and I’m super excited to be starting work on a new movie called *Girl Group*! I’m going to be acting alongside some awesome people – Rebel Wilson from *Pitch Perfect*, Randall Park who’s been in a bunch of Marvel movies, Jamie Lee O’Donnell from *Derry Girls*, and Guz Khan from *Man Like Mobeen*. It’s gonna be a fun shoot!

The film centers around a pop star, played by Wilson, who gets dropped from a reunion tour with her former girl group. The group is portrayed by well-known singers Ashley Roberts (of The Pussycat Dolls), Mel C (from the Spice Girls), and Shaznay Lewis (of All Saints).

In addition to her legal consequences, she gets the opportunity to rebuild her career by coaching a team of unconventional teenage girls as they prepare for a significant audition with a record label.

Despite her best efforts, she demands too much from the new team, ultimately leading her to face the harmful side of the industry that created her, as well as her own damaging patterns she struggles to break.

Elizabeth Banks will direct, write, and produce a new movie called *Girl Group*. She says the idea came to her while working on *Pitch Perfect*.

She explained that after working on the *Pitch Perfect* movies, she’d always dreamed of making something with a similar vibe. She described *Girl Group* as a really fun and energetic film that will have you singing and dancing as you leave the theater.

I’m so excited about this movie! The cast is incredible – they can sing, dance, act, *and* they’re hilarious! Seriously, these people are amazingly talented. Plus, I think it’s awesome that it’s being made with Live Nation Studios and FAE – it really feels like a celebration of girl power!

Producer Matt Williams described the film as a fantastic showcase of female empowerment for today’s young audience. He also shared his enthusiasm for working with Rebel Wilson, praising her inspiring vision and dedication.
