Why X-Men or Fantastic Four Weren’t in Marvel Zombies

Okay, so I just finished watching *Marvel Zombies* on Disney+, and it’s…intense. Director Bryan Andrews recently explained why we don’t see any familiar faces from the X-Men or Fantastic Four in this zombie-filled universe. Apparently, he and co-creator Zeb Wells really wanted to focus on a specific set of characters for this R-rated, four-episode story. And let me tell you, the voice cast is *amazing* – Florence Pugh, Awkwafina, Elizabeth Olsen, Iman Vellani…they really bring these characters to life, even as zombies! It’s a different take on the Marvel universe, and it definitely delivers on the gore factor.

Bryan Andrews on why X-Men or Fantastic Four weren’t in Marvel Zombies

Bryan Andrews, the director of Marvel Zombies, recently explained to Variety why he chose not to include characters from the X-Men or Fantastic Four in the series.

Marvel Zombies tells the story of a world overrun by a zombie outbreak-one that even affects superheroes. After many Avengers become infected, the remaining heroes join forces to combat the virus and search for a way to save everyone.

Andrews explained that the complexities of the multiverse made it difficult to include the Fantastic Four in Marvel Zombies. He encountered a similar problem when thinking about adding the X-Men to the show.

Andrews explained he would have liked to include those characters, but at the time, the ‘Fantastic Four’ storyline was too distant and existed in a separate universe. The same issue applied to the X-Men – figuring out how they could realistically appear presented a lot of complications.

The director hinted that we might see even more teams introduced if *Marvel Zombies* gets a second season. They’re exploring some wild ideas and are open to adding more characters and exciting zombie transformations, saying, ‘You never know what could happen, but it would be amazing to have even more opportunities for crazy heroes and zombies!’

Marvel Zombies is currently streaming on Disney+.
