NetEase Games recently shared more details about its upcoming adventure RPG, ANANTA. The game, created with Naked Rain, is shown off in a new 7-minute trailer that highlights its colorful anime-style world, how battles work, and what it’s like to explore the game.

ANANTA, previously called Project MUGEN, is an open-world urban role-playing game. The developers renamed it ANANTA in November 2024 when pre-registration began, and they held a closed test in China this January.

You can build a team, experience the city’s lively nightlife, or get caught up in dangerous conflicts.
The game focuses on making you feel truly present in the world, with lots of things to interact with all over the city. You can go from something simple like petting a cat to getting caught up in a dangerous gang fight in an instant. The characters feel realistic, and everything you do – whether it’s checking someone’s phone or speeding through the streets – has consequences.

Battles are all about being creative and thinking on your feet. They’re fast-moving and let you use anything around you – like golf clubs or even trash cans – to fight. You’ll need to be adaptable, quickly grabbing enemy weapons and using well-timed dodges and blocks to turn the tables.
I really enjoy the freedom of movement in this game. The 3C system lets you explore the city any way you like, smoothly transitioning between different methods of travel. You can swing from buildings, jump into cars, catch a bus, or even fly a helicopter – you’re always in control. And you can even use vehicles to help you complete missions!

It also features quirky details – like toilets with legs running around – and a detailed city environment. You can explore both indoor and outdoor spaces across three layers: rooftops, mid-levels, and the ground floor, making it look really engaging.
