A live-action movie based on the popular manga and anime series Sakamoto Days is officially happening! A new website and social media accounts have confirmed the project. The movie will star Yuto Suzuki’s creation and features a key visual of the main character, Taro Sakamoto, in a memorable scene: calmly enjoying instant noodles while skillfully blocking a bullet with his chopsticks. This image perfectly represents the film’s unique mix of everyday life and unexpected action.
Ren Meguro, a well-known actor and singer, will play Taro Sakamoto in an upcoming project, portraying the character at both a heavier and slimmer weight. To create the character’s fuller appearance, the production team is using special effects makeup and prosthetics, which takes about four hours to apply each day. This approach allows Meguro to embody the character’s changing physique while maintaining the instantly recognizable look of Taro Sakamoto.
Okay, so I was super excited when I heard about a live-action *Sakamoto Days* movie, and honestly, it made a lot of sense! Yuichi Fukuda is directing, and that’s a *huge* win. He did the live-action *Gintama* films, which were awesome and really understood the source material. Plus, Keiya Taguchi is handling the action choreography, so we’re probably in for some seriously cool fight scenes. Everyone was hoping Fukuda would be involved, and it’s great to see it actually happen!
