Cheryl Fergison has shared a new health update after suffering a worrying stroke last month.
The 60-year-old former EastEnders star, who has called her stroke ‘one of the most difficult experiences of my life,’ has shared that she is now using a walking stick to help her get around.
She shared on Instagram Saturday that she’s now able to walk with a cane after her stroke, which she called ‘brilliant.’ She can walk a good distance, though she does get tired.
The actress explained she was taking a walk to the nearby shop for some exercise when she suddenly had an idea for her next project: a movie or TV show about her own life.
I went there yesterday, around tea time, and greeted the staff, she continued.
‘This lady was in there. Probably about my age, I dunno, maybe 50s to 60s, something like that.

She told me she had just finished reading my book. I asked her what she thought of it.
‘She said “You’ve had a life, haven’t you?” And I went, “Yeah a little bit”.’
The woman told Cheryl she loved the book and couldn’t stop reading it, then wondered if it might become a movie or TV show.
Cheryl went on to say she hadn’t considered that before, but appreciated the suggestion.
She said if a movie were made about her life, she’d prefer the role to be played by recent drama school graduates – people just starting their professional acting careers.
Cheryl Fergison posted a video asking production companies if they’d consider filming her behind-the-scenes work, suggesting it could be fun content for her fans to watch.
Cheryl recently shared details about the frightening night she had a stroke last month, explaining what she experienced beforehand.
She explained to The Mirror that she had trouble sleeping. When she woke up to use the bathroom, she lost her balance and almost fell. She also felt numbness, heaviness, and tingling on her entire right side.

It’s been incredibly tough. Losing control of my hands and legs, not being able to walk without falling… it was so frustrating, and honestly, it made me furious. But things are finally changing! I’m really starting to get better, and I’m improving quickly – it feels like I’m making leaps and bounds with my recovery.
Possessions come and go, but what truly counts are the memories we make with the people we love. Friends, family, and joyful moments are what really matter in life.
Cheryl has experienced a lot of woes in life.
She has faced significant hardships, including childhood sexual assault, struggles with binge eating as an adult, financial problems caused by a dishonest accountant, and a cancer diagnosis. At times, she needed to depend on food banks to make ends meet.
The actress famously played Heather Trott on EastEnders for five years, leaving the show in 2012 when her character was written out with a dramatic death.
Cheryl recently shared that she’s been facing serious financial hardship, saying she’s barely making ends meet. She’s had to rely on government assistance and a food bank to get by.
I was really surprised to hear her say she’s struggling financially right now, but honestly, it felt so real. She explained she’s not in a comfortable place with money at the moment, but she’s determined and working hard to get back on her feet, and I admire her for being so open about it.
The actress explained to The Sun that she shouldn’t be criticized for working to rebuild her life, stating it will take a significant amount of time for her financial situation to improve.

Right now, I’m just getting by until I find stable employment. I’ve been accepting any work offered, even without pay, but I need to start recognizing my worth and charging a fair price for my skills. My agent agrees that this is necessary.
She firmly stated that she would never stop pursuing her passion. She wanted to continue singing, and wasn’t bothered if people judged her for performing in smaller venues.
You know, at my core, I’m a performer. Connecting with people is everything to me, so I truly believe in giving 100% no matter what. Honestly, whether it’s a stadium full of fans or just a small group, I’m still going to put on a great show. At the end of the day, I love what I do and I’m grateful for every opportunity, big or small!
Despite facing money troubles, Cheryl is going back to the BBC after 13 years. She previously played Heather Trott, who was killed off in the show ‘EastEnders’ by Ben Mitchell in 2012.
After leaving her role on the BBC soap opera, Cheryl has been trying out different things. Most recently, she performed live at the opening of a Chinese takeaway, playing to an intimate audience of around 30 people.
